This was a terrible experience. I hope I never have to see this hotel or go to Miami again. This hotel has left a permanent scar on my and my young son's heart.
My experience at the James Hotel can only be described as horrific. The hotel staff actually called the local police to have me and my son removed for trespassing, simply because I found a problem with the mattress and requested a room change. Four policemen forced us leave the hotel. My son was terrified and cried. Afterwards, I requested a refund, but they said I had booked through Expedia and told me to get a refund from Expedia. The local police were clearly biased towards the hotel. One of the police officers, named E. Santana, was particularly vicious and had a terrible attitude.
The story was after we checking in at 3:00 PM, I discovered a problem with the mattress; one side of the mattress was sagging. I requested a room change, but a staff member at the front desk said there were no other rooms available. I explained that the mattress was broken, the springs on one side had collapsed, and it was impossible for me to sleep on it. She said that all the mattresses in the other rooms were the same. This was clearly lying. Later, while I was showering, my son explored the hotel and found that there were other empty rooms upstairs. He came back and told me, so I went to the front desk again to request a room change. They then threatened me, saying that if I continued to complain, they would call the police, the
