"I actually didn’t realize when I was booking that this is the old Hilton Riverfront. Although it’s still run by Hilton, it’s the Hotel Ballast now. I stayed here years ago under the old name, etc and I could definitely tell several upgrades had been made. It’s walkable to the amphitheater but it does take a while. We went to a concert one night and stayed around the hotel the next. Downtown Wilmington is very walker friendly. We only left the hotel once, and that was to go to Jimbo’s for breakfast on Saturday morning. My only complaint about the stay was that the lighting isn’t great for putting on your makeup. Bring a travel lighted mirror if you have one."

"Everyone who worked at the front desk from our initial visit to the last was nothing but polite and helpful. The room was exactly what we needed and had all the amenities to make our stay wonderful. The breakfast bar had some diverse options too which we heavily enjoyed. The pool was perfect for us to enjoy with our little one who really loved his time in the water. One of the nights we decided to not go out for dinner cause of the storm and instead ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel and everything we had was delicious. We will definitely stay here again in the future and highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area."

"Valet parking was exceptional and very responsive. Employees were friendly and efficient. On the other hand, corporate issues include—-Breakfast had A LOT to be desired, few choices, pre-packaged, no diverse items, few hot foods. Room had no ice bucket, no table lamp, poor lighting in bathroom mirror. No iron. Door stuck. All minor inconveniences"

"This hotel is at the convention center end of Wilmington which means it's surrounded by boring, bland hotels and parking lots. It is however the most interesting hotel in the area since it incorporates an historic rail warehouse. The loft style rooms with the cubicle wall bathrooms, slider door, and curtain really aren't that great. Passing trend which is already passé."
