"We had an enjoyable stay, we were received by Kelly with fresh delicious muffins, the house was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent, each day was a different menu with fresh baked muffins, fresh fruit, juice, coffee or late and attention to detail. Kelly was very hospitable and she made us feel like home. I recommend a stay here "

"We needed a place near volcano park and this property filled the bill. I really should have read the information provided by the host to understand the self-check in process. (Multiple messages from all our stays overwhelmed me) Once we squared that away, we found dinner and brought it back to the room and settled in. The night sounds in the forest were great. My only suggestion is the steps be lit up for arrivals after dark."

"Stayed at Cabin Kai 4 (Dec 26–30, 2025). Affordable and located in a beautiful, peaceful area with free parking, water, and Wi-Fi (weak). Major concern: No window coverings for the floor-to-ceiling bathtub window or windows above the bed and coffee bar, resulting in serious privacy issues while bathing and sleeping. "Overall good location with good amenities. However, all of the pillows (2 for sleeping) provided are too soft and not firm enough. Bed sheets’ thread count is very low which in combination leads to uncomfortable sleeping conditions. Otherwise, solid."

"Jeff was a kind host, The land was absolutely Beautiful, fully equipped kitchen, nice rooms though Eye stayed in the tent which Eye enjoyed. It gets pretty hot and there during the day and very cool at night. Less than a minute drive from my favorite clothing optional beach. Eye really enjoyed my stay. "The room was clean and inviting with a great balcony overlooking the bay. The downstairs restaurant and bar were great! The poll could use an update and was hard to find. The coffee in the bar area in the morning was wonderful! The location was perfect for sightseeing in and around Hilo. We also enjoyed the trees on Banyon Drive."

"This was amazing! Great staff, great location AND there's even a swimming hole (5 min walk, if that) with a waterfall! I've never stayed in a shared house before, but this one has spoiled me! It's close enough to be able to drive to all the good tourist spots. Oh, and hopefully you're there for the "big" farmers market on Saturdays. The staff is nice enough, but the property being open to the public, no hotel grade doors on the rooms (they were closet doors with no deadbolt), and no AC on a hot night is not acceptable. "It’s definitely the nicest place to stay in Hilo. Great location & beautiful property. Breakfast was good with options. Staff is fabulous. This is absolutely just chance, nothing the hotel could do. A soccer team showed up our last night. The kid’s & parents were loud, obnoxious & trashed the place, I felt sorry for the entire staff & groundskeeper cleaning up after the rude group."

"Pleasant stay. we spent the day at the Volcano Natl Park which is only 7 minutes away. had dinner in town, checked in about 5pm. when you drive onto the property you feel like you are in the middle of the rain forrest. really appreciated the tasty banana bread, snacks, and fruit that was left out. our room had a hot tub, which we didnt use. the matress was comfy. very quiet surrondings."

"Not Worth it, Price Like 4-5 hotel. It Like motel. .Very noisy during the day and night, people are passing your corridor to go to lobby and dragged their luggages . NO elevator, I need to carry All luggages to level 1 downstairs. Staffs helpful and friendly. I booke d for 4 adults. bed like queen but a bit small. Shouldn’t be for for 4 adults. No kettle and you need to pick up all glass, tea and coffee in receptions., bring your own water bottle as well. "

"The Lodge itself was impeccably clean. The dining experience was great. Our room was perfect right down to the heated towel bar. The volcano area lookouts were nearby thus not having to travel very far. The staff were very helpful in all aspects. Would definitely recommend this Lodge."
