Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre by IHG

"Hello the room was nice however it would be nice to have slippers staff were lovely bathroom could be cleaner some towels had black marks on them "

The Orchard Hotel & Restaurant
2/10 Terrible
"I was 10 minutes away from the hotel when a staff member called me to say that you were overbooked, so the room I had booked more than 3 weeks previously, was no longer available. I was offered a room in a manor house nearby. But that had no reception, and no restaurant. Without any hotel staff at that property, it did not feel safe for a lone traveller.
When I arrived at the hotel, and spoke to the staff, the lady I dealt with said that a hotel in the city centre had a room available. This was not ideal, as the event I was attending was cross the road from the hotel I had booked, which is why I booked it. The city centre hotel was a 15 minute drive away.
I was told that the overbooking was due to a system error. I can't help thinking it was to cover the possibility that bookings might be cancelled, but none were. When I booked there was good availability, and I know that this only changed late in the week preceding my weekend booking, because I checked on the Friday to see if the room price had dropped - it was showing as sold out.
If I had known I would not be able to stay at the hotel, I would not have booked a hotel at all, and would have travelled up for the event on the day. Booking the hotel was meant to provide a relaxing evening and morning before the afternoon event. It was quite the opposite with having to find my way to the city centre hotel, and back again.
The only reason I ended up accepting the city centre htoel was because the staff member at the Orchard"

Malacuna Birmingham
8/10 Good
"It was a serviceable place to stay. We booked a en-suite double, which had a very unique layout in Room 8, with the shower/sink area being an open area. Bed was extremely comfortable as a plus point. They didn't initially give us towels for the room at check in, so had to go back up get them. Walls are quite thin as we could hear people clearing talking, and later, loudly snoring in one of the dorm rooms next door. The room had basic amenities for the price. It was fine for a one night stop over for work. The reception/lounge area is quite nice and had a great aesthetic using the original brick work, so the presentation in the entrance isn't lacking."

The Grand Hotel Birmingham
10/10 Excellent
"Breakfast was phenomenal.
It was strange that there was only one robe in the double bedroom and I wish coffee and biscuits were replenished in the room every day.
Otherwise, I have nothing negative to say. This was my third stay in this hotel and I love it there every time. "

Best Western Appleby Park Hotel

Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club
2/10 Terrible
"Hotel is in desperate need of updating. Rooms and bathrooms are in poor condition. Hallways have visible marks and dents in the walls and carpets. Food is poor in Zest, breakfast is mediocre. "

The Arden Hotel & Leisure Club
10/10 Excellent
"I stayed here for one night as was attending a concert at BP pulse which is walking distance. Staff was friendly, really liked the lounge area, breakfast had a good variety. Rooms were good enough, perhaps could have been a little bit longer (I am 6 foot 3!) but overall, an excellent stay with no complaints. Good value for money, and would definitely recommend this hotel if anyone had to go somewhere near by i.e. Birmingham Airport, BP pulse or NEC "

Malmaison Birmingham
6/10 Okay
"Room could do with openable windows."
