Memoir is a strange blend of residential property and hotel. Its association with the Common House adjoining is not very clear, although this is a great asset to the property (note that common house closes at 5pm on a Sunday, so if you’re staying on a Sunday night this is no use to you). My problems are that it wasn’t that clean - the hallways are dirty, residents place their trash in the hallways, and the walls are scuffed both in the hallways and the rooms. The rooms themselves are fine - a small queen bed, and a lounge with kitchenette wasn’t really what I needed. There is no phone in the room so you cannot call downstairs to the front desk for help - there was no tv remote in my room and so a trip back to the front desk was needed. But worst of all, for a >$400/night hotel, my room wasn’t serviced, and when I asked I was told “we aren’t like standard hotels, you only get your room serviced every third night”. So trips to the front desk were needed every time I needed new towels, more body wash or shampoo, more water for the fridge. And I’m not used to making my own bed when I’m paying >$400 per night. Could have been so much better.
