"The location of this hotel was perfect for walking distance to many of the Edinburgh sites. It was easy to get to from the airport by taking the tram. The only thing I would have liked was a bigger room and view that wasn't overlooking the heating units and rooftops of other buildings. The staff was wonderful, the breakfast was delightful, and I would definitely stay here again."

"Hallways were dingy and had a damp smell. Actual room was fine, just the shower was outdated. Overall didn’t feel clean."

"Grounds and castle were beautiful. Unfortunately spa facility’s were not open, nor were 2 of the 3 restaurants. Service was somewhat inconsistent, especially at the bar. We sat for 10 minutes before bartender acknowledged us, only after me asking if we could get a drink. Same experience in the restaurant - one night was great and next night we weren’t even offered wine and drink list. Very odd."

"Beautiful looking property on the outside with the main areas inside full of history, one of the most historic looking hotelsi have stayed at, however, with all this charm you are led to expect the same for the room! I was staying in a " Classic " room. Whilst i appreciate this is not a suite, the room was very tired and shabby. The bathroom was tiny, barely room to move. The carpets old and filthy. The rooms need completely redocrating. At nearly £190 per night for a tiny shabby room is...
