"Our room was in the Old Swan,it is a property that the Old Lodge must own. It's a few minutes walk from the lodge.It was ok but wouldn't stay again. Breakfast was lovely,fresh fruit, croissants, everything cooked to order. The only niggle was that we went for a drink in the lounge about 9 o clock,and it was just staff stood there ,one was swearing,which I don't think was acceptable in a posh establishment and while guests were present . Check in staff were lovely,but we won't be staying again."

"Had a very nice stay here. It is the first time we stayed. We had a larger room. It was very clean & newly decorated, such a bonus. For the price it was excellent, would recommend it. Staff were friendly. It was a good location for the town. Meals available, we did not use the these facilities, so carn't comment. We would stay here again. "

"Shocking hotel! The room was filthy and in a really bad state of repair. We refused to stay in the first room they gave us which was in the roof space. I don't understand how hotels are allowed to operate like this. If it was a restaurant they would be shut down by the foog hygiene agency. It ruined our weekend. I will be emailing the hotel directly with photos of the room. Would the owners stay in these rooms? I think not. Even the grand staircases are filthy."

"Top floor walls paper thin every conversation and toilet visit audible especially after a wedding party finishing at 00.30, other guests not caring. Shower cubicle tiles broken sealant black and soaps not new. bottles half refilled. Dust everywhere carpet dirty poor quality coffee in rooms. No one around at check out to advise of issues"

"This is a lovely hotel full of character. Yes it looks a little scruffy on the outside but the inside is good. Every member of staff was pleasant & helpful especially on the front desk for checking in & out. "The property itself was perfect. A lovely little cabin with all needed for a quiet stay. The main issue for us on an admittedly short stay, were the distance from Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. There were no grocery shops within a walkable distance or short drive. "
