"The historic building is simply beautiful, very charming, and well-restored. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was well-equipped. The service in the restaurant was very friendly but extremely slow. The food was rather mediocre. Breakfast was actually quite poor. There was barely a tablespoon of yogurt with the granola, and the toast was cold and hard like rusk. The location itself is beautiful."

"Amazing place!! We will definitely miss it but would love to stay again when we return. The food was phenomenal, easily the best Thai food we had in England. The locals were welcoming and friendly making everything a 11/10 experience. "

"Excellent stay at Head of the River. Lovely rooms and lovely staff, who made us feel very welcome. We were lucky to have had gorgeous weather which allowed us to enjoy drinks by river together with a delicious lunch as well as an equally delicious Sunday roast. The breakfast is generous and we were spoilt for choice. We would recommend without hesitation and look forward to returning soon."

"I will never stay in this hotel again. Although inexpensive by Oxford hotel prices, you get what you pay for and it is not worth it. I asked for the quietest room - hahaha. The surrounding nightclubs and the bar below are full on until after 1am! And there is no sound proofing between rooms and I had noisy neighbours too! As you enter the hotel, the carpet on the stairs is filthy and the corridor smells. The room itself was clean enough but no side table and poor quality mattress and pillows. So...

"We (family of 4) stayed here for 3 nights and couldn’t be happier! Our two-storey cottage was spacious, and well appointed with gorgeous linens and bath products. The complimentary breakfast far exceeded the ‘standard’ continental breakfast and the kitchen serves delicious meals for dinner. All the staff (Luca, Martina and Finn) were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend staying here and eating a hearty pub meal!"

"Lots of character, authentic, old inn (original part built circa 1690) set in beautiful countryside. Some parking on site at rear, but one evening we had to park on the roadside. (It is a quiet road so OK.) There is a nice seating area in a garden in front of the Inn. Nice ambiance overall. Staff are very friendly. Evening meal and breakfast were good. The double room we stayed in was sufficiently quiet and of an acceptable size. Would definitely consider staying again if in the area."
