"The recent room renovations are nice. And needed. The property was becoming sad, but they've managed to pump some new life into it. I didn't enjoy having to wait to ride the elevator to my room. Not sure if they just didn't build enough considering the number of guests in the hotel. Also, the gym was a joke. They had a sign that they were remodeling, but I could see nothing was being done. They had like 10 dumbells, 1 treadmill, and a walled mirror. For a hotel this size, this was unacceptable. It said you could go use the Sheraton's gym, wherever that was."

"Expect to be nickled and dimed. The resort fee is $55/ day. Parking is $69/day. Everything at the resort is pricey and over inflated including food surfboard rentals, and excursions. It's best to eat away from the resort. They are also vigilant about pool towels. Don't lose you towel card as it will cost you $20. That said, the resort is lively, the pools are very nice and it's on the beach. If you like very big resorts, this the place for you."

"Waited an hour for a shuttle to reach the hotel , only that was disappointing, hotel was good."

"The lobby of the hotel is very nice with a decent restaurant and bar. The location is excellent as it's right in the heart of downtown Monterey and a short walk to Cannery Row. My biggest complaint is that the beds and the pillows are not very good."
