The entire hotel looked run down. My room was not in good shape and the bathroom and toilet were not properly cleaned. Brown stains running down the back of the toilet. I purchased my own cleaning spray and paper towel. When I got out of the shower, I saw a blood stain on the towel after I dried myself. I had to check myself to realize it was not from me. I definitely over paid, as I left 2 days early. I was out by 3:15am for an early flight Monday the 20th. So over $500 spent for 2 nights in a $49 per night hotel. I am not happy. Stay away from the Desert Lodge in Palm Springs. I have made a complaint to Expedia. So far no response from the hotel.

The staff was kind but the hotel was a bit filthy. There was “repaired” water damage that was just a hole punched into the spot where it had occurred. The shower was gross. The walls had weeds growing through the edges. The mattresses were a bit too brown for comfort

This place has huge potential and must have been a really cool MCM motel at one time, but the current management has no clue what they are doing, unless running a flop house is their business model , I almost wanted to buy the place just so that I could fix it!!

The first time we stayed, it was excelent. Totally worth 150$. 2nd time we stayed, 200 a night and we got a room which the bathroom was completely destroyed. Door was broken, faucet was broken, shower wouldnt drain, toilet handle was inaccessable. Just ruined the stay. Management said they inherited the property like that.

Desert Lodge is just a basic no frills motor inn that provides a comfortable bed and shower . Thats it. Dont expect anything fancy. That is was Desert Lodge is. I recommend that if you are concerned that you may not like the room ask to see the room before paying. The pictures can exaggerate what you may or may not like about the property. I just needed a cheap place to stay for a week and thats it.

Honestly, the rooms are in very bad condition; they're not clean, the drawers are broken, the sheets are dirty, and the floor has holes. And the bathroom? Don't even get me started. But the receptionist and the staff in general are very friendly, but I won't be staying at that hotel again.

I booked the room for 2 nights for me and family. We left after the first night and went back home. There are stains on walls, floors, and sheets. There are holes in the walls, the bathroom fixtures are rotted at the bottom. The lock for front door was difficult to engage. We turned on the heater and out came a burning smell, we turned it off and slept in cold room. There are homeless people on the premises. Homeless left partially eaten food in the hallway. Vagrants sit on the staircase. The toilet was leaking. I don't understand how Palm Springs allows a motel/hotel like this to operate. Do NOT stay here.

Person at counter was very nice. But thr room had water stains and peeled paint on the ceiling, homeless folks were living there, and everything looked neglected. Nicely located but i won't stay there again.

Sometimes when I book a last-minute trip to Palm Springs, I’m not chasing luxury—I’m chasing cheap, clean, and close to downtown. Prices here swing wildly depending on season, heat, and whatever festival is in town. I’d driven past the Desert Lodge for years in its great South Palm Canyon location but never stayed—until last weekend, when it was the cheapest option by far. The exterior looks like it’s been on pause since about 1960, with mid-century breeze blocks and a green painted pool deck that has seen some times. The entrance features cracked asphalt that gently encourages you to manage expectations. The outdoor staircase and hallway are tired but sturdy, like a motel that refuses to retire. Inside, the room was basic but functional: working fridge and AC, a flat-screen TV, beat-up furniture, and a bathroom that’s lived a full life. Highlights included a brand-new bargain Home Depot toilet, a decent showerhead, and towels that were small, scratchy, and clearly nearing the end of their careers. And then—surprise—the room was spacious, the new vinyl plank flooring was actually clean, and the king-size bed was shockingly comfortable, Hyatt-level comfortable. Either I got lucky, or the mattress got the entire renovation budget. Rough around the edges? Absolutely. But for the price, location, and unexpectedly great sleep, the Desert Lodge gets the job done—just bring your own towel.

Horrible motel. Checked in at 330pm told room won’t be ready until after 5pm. Could hear people screaming and being vulgar all night long so we barely slept. Room was horrible. Dirty. Doors with duct tape on them, holes in the ceiling. Shower had mold and used/open complimentary shampoo/conditioner/soap which was amusing since the room had to be cleaned and delayed out check in. Shower water would not turn off, knob was broken. 1 towel for a room that slept 4, nothing else, just 1 towel that wasn’t folded so unsure if it was even clean. Exposed wires all over the place. No outlet covers. Would have slept better in the car. Relaxing getaway turned into a final destination like nightmare. Kept waiting for someone to bust down our door with how loud and horrible it was all night. Some lady screaming F-bombs, the N word, and talking about f-ing people up. Tried calling the front desk, phone didn’t work and didn’t feel safe leaving the room after dark. Never never ever again!!! I have pictures of the room disaster to back this up too. Travelers beware!

There was a very kind manager at this hotel. Unfortunately, this hotel is in major disrepair from the parking lot, to the pool, and to the room. The photos are showcasing this property from years ago, which is deceiving to anyone staying here. It is truly rundown, isolated, and does not feel safe. If I knew, I would have gladly paid double to not stay here and be in a cleaner better managed property.

Definitely need updating

Great location but the property could use some updating. The sheets were clean, AC blew cold and the water in the shower was hot but it was very dated

Do not stay here.

This place is old and in need of serious repair. Holes in the walls, furniture is old and beat up. Bedding had cigarette burns in it. TV is ridiculously small. Bathroom was old and beat up.
