The staff were amazing - welcoming, friendly, cheerful, just lovely to be around. The food was amazing. The 4 cheese tortellini in particular was out of this world. The only issue I had was the striped carpet on the stairs. For some reason, it was really disorienting. I thought it was just me (I recently got new vari-focal glasses) but my husband thought the same.

Excellent service; really friendly and helpful people - thanks for an enjoyable stay. Well located right on front between central Penzance and Newlyn. Main hotel spaces are light and spacious; nice venue for the good breakfast. Only giving 4 stars because bedroom in Annex was small, with small window (above head-height) and v. warm in July - it’s expensive for a room of that size and comfort.

A very nice hotel in a great location! When we got there, we found that we had been booked into a very small room, but upon talking to the receptionist, she booked us in a much nicer room for a very modest up charge. Breakfast was very good and included both hot and cold options for the same price.

Staff were very nice and helpful. Coffees and teas available all day which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was really good, (compliments to the chef) and the hotel entrance is decorated nicely. However the room was dated and disappointing. Cleaniness is not a priority unfortunately. The towels were stained, the bathroom door would not close, bathroom curtain was stained, hairs in the bathroom and on one of the towels, bathroom sink had a crack in it and one of the taps was broken, cobwebs and dust in the bathroom and bedroom, broken lamp shades. Overall it was ok but the rooms need a revamp and better cleaning.

The hotel looks a wee bit tired but the location is excellent. The views over the bay are stunning and you have direct access to the south west coastal path. There was a problem with our room but we were moved to another room. The room decor is lovely. Staff helpful and friendly

We had a beach view room and it was amazing to look at the sea from the second floor. Breakfast was included within the superior room at a premium rate, but it was worth to pay more for the view. There was always water and ice tea at the counter and coffee machine available to get hot drinks at any time, which was great. Overall it was a great stay.

A good place to stay. Clean room, pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast tasty with a good choice. Sea view from our room. Needs a lick of paint here and there and some carpets in corridors a bit threadbare. And no lift though staff assisted with our suitcase.

Good location on the promenade. Most staff generally very enthusiastic and helpful Room was generally good and comfortable. Good supply of tea and coffee making material and crisps and biscuits. However I needed to report that the bathroom door would not close properly. Bath sink looked cracked and shabby Breakfast on day 1 went smoothly. Table was laid and the hostess on duty was very helpful and keen. Breakfast on day 2 not so good. Arrived in the dining room to find plenty of empty tables but none had been cleared away and relaid. Had to sit at one with dirty plates and cups and cutlery. No orange juice available until asked for. There were no croissants at the buffet breakfast and when my wife asked she was told that there werent any. Hostess seemed more interested in her phone messages than looking after customers. But apart from the glitches outlined and the expensive bar drinks our stay was OK

Room was lovely, clean and cosy however unfortunately the breakfast on the first day was not cooked and gave me food poisoning, they tried to compensate the issue with providing a complimentary light dinner and soft drink. One member of staff asked on several occasions if I was ok which was kind.

3/5 – Decent stay, but tight on space Overall an okay experience. The room was quite small for two people on a week-long trip — storage was limited and we genuinely struggled to find space to open and access our suitcases properly. It's also not a modern hotel, though that's probably fairly typical for the area. There's also no lift, which made carrying heavy luggage up to the room a real struggle. The hotel is right next to a main road, so it was noisy even with the windows closed. On the plus side, the staff were helpful throughout, and the chef was friendly and made a nice impression. The location is a real strength — easy access to both bus and train, so getting around Penzance and beyond was convenient. Given the price we paid, though, it didn't quite feel like it matched the value — for the cost, I'd have expected a bit more in terms of room size and amenities.

There was a water leak above the entrance to our room and the carpet was wet and musty and every time we went into the room we would be dripped on. Whilst the pictures and description might depict a 4 star hotel, the Hotel Penzance Promenade is definitely not a 4 star hotel. It is poorly maintained and dirty with untrained staff. On arrival we were greeted by someone who hardly spoke English and just said "sign please" and handed us a piece of paper with our details on. We were then shown to our room door, advised of breakfast times and he left. Our room had a broken pane of glass in one of the windows, which showed signs of being broken for some time and the inside glass in all of the windows was dirty. The lack of cleaning was evident from ingrained dirt on the chair arms, window cills, wardrobe doors, rusty towel rail and the door down to reception. The bathroom blind had been taken down and not replaced, so not ideal when you get out of the shower and then notice that you can see down the promenade. At breakfast on the first morning the tables were still laid from the previous evening, so we had to ask for spoons - not a big issue, but this is apparently a 4 star hotel. On the second morning, everyone had to ask for cups as there were none available - again not a major thing, but 1 star B&B's manage it, so why not a "4 star" hotel. The cooked breakfast supplied is 1x sausage, 1x rasher of bacon, 1x egg ( fried one cooked in dirty oil), half a tomato (slightly warm), a small hash brown and a couple of mushrooms, so luckily there is a continental choice as well. Finally, mind the 10% "service" stealth charge.

Wonderful all round.

A lovely room with a great view and a cracking breakfast. Staff were very hospitable. Would certainly stay here again.
