Illegal passport request, filthy room, unsafe stay
At check-in, the hotel required a cash-only deposit and then attempted to retain my passport when I did not comply. I had to state that this is illegal before staff stopped pressing the issue. This alone was unacceptable.
The room I was then given at 10:00 PM was filthy and clearly not cleaned — hair on the floor and in the shower, sticky residue on surfaces, and visible stains. The room door was open when I arrived, adding to the safety concerns.
The only response offered was that cleaning staff might come at an unknown time despite the late hour. Electrical outlets were not working (my adapter short-circuited), no replacements were available, and the noise insulation is nonexistent — aircraft can be heard idling and accelerating for takeoff.
This property is dangerously misrepresented as a five-star hotel. It fails basic standards of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism. I have photos documenting the room condition. Avoid.
Shame on the hotel and whatever Illegal activities their reception was doing and shame on Expedia for not being diligent and listing it as a 5 star property.
