"Motel in easy walking distance to town centre.
The room was very hot, so had our windows open and seagulls were screaming from 2am
The room was clean plenty of hot water.
Bed too soft for our liking so didn’t sleep well.
Our door didn’t seem to fit right so had to slam it shut and heard a few more being slammed."
"The staff was polite and was very helpful and even upgraded us and be very happy to share with friends and family and will be gladly to come back and stay"
"First time I have stayed here but it certainly won’t be the last. Situated in a lovely setting everything was perfect. Staff welcoming and friendly, food was outstanding and the rooms were immaculate. I would certainly recommend this lovely pub. "
"This clean and well-situated guest house is run by a friendly family team. The host was helpful and kind, offering assistance when a cab ride fell through. Highly recommended for solo travelers and families alike!"
"Couldn’t have asked for anything more - room was really nice, staff were excellent, food was lovely - would highly recommend and will be staying again."

"We had a wonderful stay at the Golden Fleece, it surpassed our expectations. Ample parking, free, at the rear of the hotel, we were warmly welcomed and our room, if it was a standard room (Number 5) was welcoming, comfy, spotlessly clean and with lots of extra amenities to make us feel at home. It had the feel of an upgraded room, newly refurbished, with a great Roberts radio, coffee machine, free water and lovely toiletries (which you could buy as well if you liked them). As we have an elderly pooch, I emailed to ask for a low floor room if at all possible and received an immediate reply reassuring me it was not a problem at all. I appreciated that, as without a lift it can be a bit of a trauma for our lovely old boy.
The staff in all areas were lovely, professional, friendly and very helpful. Sam (the pooch) especially enjoyed his breakfast sausage and all the attention. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble, although thankfully we had no issues to trouble them with, as they have thought of everything to make a stay a memorable and relaxing one.
An 11am checkout is a rarity these days, but very much appreciated, as you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, with lots of choices and worth the supplement and ease yourself into the day.
Location-wise, couldn't be better, right in the heart of Thirsk, we didn't need to use the car at all. Lots to see and do, soak up the atmosphere of a busy market town, all in all a fantastic stay and we will return!"
"Overall a very comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very good although the opaque glass meant there was no view from the room.
The cost of the stay and bar purchases represented good value for money and we would definitely stay here again."
"The staff were fantastic, really nice. The room was massive, but missed out on 5-star as the shower was pathetic; there was a better shower in the pool. Food was a good selection, and the beer on tap was fantastic. Overall, I had a great break. It would have been excellent if the shower in the room had power.not like dripping tap"
"Room 221 was very spacious with patio doors onto a balcony and a window with a river view, a lovely bathroom with walk in shower and double aspect windows too. Unusual these days but very welcome for fresh air.
Staff were very welcoming and the bar man/night manager was very helpful and hard working.
Breakfast was good but didn’t have time time to try the new evening menu as we were out most days touring round Richmond, Middleton in Teesdale, and Barnard castle areas till late."
