OLD FAR AWAY FROM EVERYTHING

Very far from Restaurants,stores and Main Street. OVERPRICED. OLD. Got a different apartment from the one booked. No taxi in town knows the place. Managed by old couple. Will not recommend it. The

We stayed at Maytenus (Blue house) for 3 nights in the 3 bedroom unit. The place is spacious, safe, quite and comfortable. Patricia and Pablo were very kind and very accommodating to all our requests and also very helpful with the area. This place is only about 15 mins walking distance to Charles Darwin Research Station or into town. If you prefer taking taxi, it's convenient and only $1.50 flat fee to/from anywhere in the area. This place is like home away from home.

We had a wonderful stay here. Patricia and Washington, the owners, are just lovely and they make you feel like home. They made sure to give us privacy but they were always available when we needed help. The first good sign that it was going to be a great stay was a message that we received a couple of days before departure with instructions for how to get from the airport to the property. They were detailed, helpful and precise, and put our mind at ease. They also helped us during our stay with arranging trips and calling taxis for us. The property is charming, clean and cosy. We spent our evenings on the terrace, relaxing and having a chat around the fake fireplace. The yard was full of lovely flowers and very well kept. We had a one bedroom apartment, very spacious, with a kitchenette that we never actually used, but it was there if we wanted to. Overall, if we ever go back to Isla Baltra we'll surely be staying again at Maytenus.

The owners, Patricia and Washington (his handsome paintings decorated the walls and other areas), were delightful! They were always smiling and pleasant, offered great suggestions of things to do, and generally made me feel at home. The studio apartment was spacious and comfortable (though not one of the recently remodeled ones). The full breakfast included in the price (despite the apartment having a kitchenette) was very welcome and served in the caney with tables, cozy seating around a fireplace, and Jacuzzi/hot tub. It is in a very quiet residential area, but just a 10-15 walk to the Charles Darwin Scientific Station in one direction and the downtown/waterfront in the other direction. Very convenient and an excellent value!

The owners are incredibly friendly and informative. They kept the room impeccable, our room had a sitting area, a full fridge, a spacious bedroom, King bed, tv, ac, a kitchen with stovetop, and they provide a gallon of water. The bathroom had mini, tiny ants, but it's part of what happens in the island. The location is sooooo quiet! It's great! We felt safe walking 15min to the shopping, beach front.

Nice to have a little extra space....

This may be a duplicate review...not sure if my review submitted. We had a very nice stay at Maytenus (Blue House) on Santa Cruz Island. Our hosts, Patricia and her husband, were so kind and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Patricia emailed me prior to our arrival in Santa Cruz to help us with arranging transportation to Maytenus. We stayed in a 3-bedroom cottage; it was roomy and clean and having a kitchen and dining/living room was nice. Maytenus is a short walk (maybe 15-20 minutes) from town and the harbor; and also a short walk to the Charles Darwin center. We walked just about everywhere, but when we needed a taxi, Patricia arranged for a taxi to come pick us up. The neighborhood was quiet and the hotel felt safe.

Gracious hostess

This is the perfect place when coming to the Galapagos. I don’t expect to stay at a luxury resort on the island ( I would hope there aren’t any) a while a little care worn, the room was spacious, equip with a kitchenette and living space. The owners Patricia and Washington are so gracious and accommodating, they go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. Breakfast was especially superb! I would stay there again. Walking distance to town is easy.

Fantastic apartment!

2 friends and I rented at Blue House. The website does not do this place justice. When we arrived we were greeted by the owners, Patricia and Winston. Extremely nice and helpful. They showed us to our rooms. We thought we were renting 3 seperate rooms in a hostel type setting. What we actually got was an entire 3 bedroom apartment. Kitchen and living room downstairs and bedrooms up the stairs. Ocean views of Galapagos from upstairs. The house is a 5-10 min easy walk to the town and to the Darwin center. If I am ever fortunate enough to come to Galapagos again I would absolutely stay here.

All the basics

Wonderful place to stay. Only drawback is lack of English TV channels -- but what do you expect in the Galapagos? Internet bandwidth was minimal to nonexistent but this was a problem all around, so enjoy the media silence! Accommodations were very pleasant and our host was superb, as were her breakfasts. We'd go back in a heartbeat and wish we could do so. I wish NYC had their taxi system -- max five minute wait and $1.50 takes a carful anywhere in Puerto Ayora!
