"The staff, the location, the amenities were amazing. The spirit of the hotel makes you blessed. Atacama means daily tours picking up early. Thus, they serve breakfast starting from 4a.m. Although the size of the pool is small, we swam everyday. We enjoyed ‘wine tasting’ hour the most. Just outside San Pedro de Atacama are the ruins of a 12th-century fort built atop a promontory overlooking the Rio San Pedro. It was built by the Atacameños to protect themselves from the expanding Inca Empire, but the real threat came centuries later when the Conquistadors invaded and conquered the fortress in 1540 (and beheaded some 300 chiefs). Worth a visit, particularly for the panoramic desert views from the top.
