"Fair place to stay for a night. Needs updating."

"The reception desk person was very nice and made sure I was able to access the room okay. I was happy that this property was pet friendly. At first glance the room looked good, but when I laid down and looked at the ceiling, I noticed a bunch of red stains above the bed. The area of town the property is in is rundown and a little sketchy and once I got in the room, I locked the door and didn't leave until I checked out in the morning."

"This is our second time staying at Drury hotel in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The staff is very kind and helpful, and they are very welcoming. The rooms and the whole place is always clean and smells fresh. Breakfast is very delicious and the evening snacks are awesome. This place is very welcoming. My children and I enjoy staying here every time we come."

"The hotel (Mount Vernon Hotel and Event Center - no longer exists under this name) has changed management and did not allow us to stay. They said they could see our reservation and were willing to cancel it, but it was booked under a previous management and they did not allow any pets, so we could not stay with our dog. They said they credited out account, but I am still being charged the full amount by Expedia and it is, so far, very difficult to contact Expedia for a credit. We ended up...

"Room was clean and the breakfast was good. Large breakfast area. The lady who took care of the breakfast area was constantly refilling and keeping the area nice. She worked the entire time and nothing ever ran low. The room was actually pretty well kept considering it’s a hotel. Parking was easy and felt safe."

"The lobby had a very offensive smell. Like someone had sprayed the place with a bunch of febreze air freshener. One of those smells that stays with you for a while and stayes in your clothes. We stayed on the second floor. Looked like the hallway hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. The room did not have an alarm clock. Breakfast was okay and they kept plenty of fresh cold water in the lobby. Parking was okay. Sites a little tight for a SVU or pickup truck."

"Property refuses local residence. If you live within Illinois, you cannot reserve a room here. Expedia needs to fix this."

"Nice little hotel. Breakfast was good, waffle maker eggs and sausages. Check in was late so it was a little bumpy using the kiosk. Overall good for the price."

"The room was comfortable, but the bathroom could use some updating and be cleaned more thoroughly. The A/C was ok as it kept turning on and off a lot and was noisy. The breakfast choices was wonderful. Fresh fruit, yogurts, danishes, bagels with cream cheese, chicken and biscuits sandwiches, OJ, coffee, milk, and cereal."
