I enjoyed my stay. It’s a nice getaway. I had few issues, but nothing out of the extraordinary. I specifically dislike the fact that there’s a lot of street dogs around; they walk around you while you’re eating in the restaurant.

Idyllic

Absolutely gorgeous place, couldn’t recommend this place enough. I would recommend the beach side cabins, it’s gorgeous to walk out the door on to the beach, idyllic. I almost didn’t want to review this because I didn’t want more people to know about it so it doesn’t get too busy 😂

Zipolite is such a special place and El Alchemista is a lovely hotel situated on the most beautiful area of the beach. The rooms are very comfortable with solid A/C. The staff are very kind and hospitable in every facet. As for the restaurant, the food and seafood are exceptionally fresh. Every item I tried was ok, but the tuna tostado, ceviche and guacamole are very delicious. The restaurant waiters and the stunning front row view of the rocks and crashing waves made the experience truly special. Would absolutely stay again. Gracias para un viaje hermoso!

Property was very nice. Staff was good but service was very slow at reception and at the restaurant. Prices are too high for what you get. Also had poor communication with front desk. They ask you to use WhatsApp and EVENTUALLY reply. Bad experience upon departure. One person help three groups!! THEN Our taxi was negotiated at one price with the front desk and the driver later asked for much more!!! Consumer BEWARE.

We stayed at three different places in Zipolite. Alquimista was best for food and location. The service was also good. We weren't aware that some of the hotels in Zipolite, while air conditioned, don't have glass windows, just wooden shutters and thatched roofs. In September when we visited, the air conditioner only keeps the room so cool, especially if you want to open the shutters for light. We weren't attracted to Alquimista because it was clothing optional, so we were okay with discovering that only the beach area in front of the hotel (not the hotel itself, like we had read) is clothing optional, although it seems to be okay on some of the hotel-serviced lounge chairs by the beach. Our room was by the hotel's kitchen, so between the crew working late in the night and the crew working breakfast, there was a considerable amount of noise. The view of the ocean from our room and the view from the pool were both obstructed by vegetation that could have been cut back, but we experienced the same issue at another hotel. Alquimista is definitely one of the better stays in the town, and the restaurant serves delicious, fresh food. It's a pleasant laidback cabana experience. Not fancy, but nothing is in the town.

Fourth time at El Alquimista. The hotel is really showing its age. The recent storms have taken a toll. Instead of investing in the property each year, the property has stayed the same over the past four years. The fixtures and fittings are showing age, the menu hasn’t changed, the loungers are worn. I’m sad to say that my time at El Alquimista is over. On to find a new hotel in the area.

Premessa: all’arrivo mi hanno addebitato sulla carta di credito un importo significativamente maggiore di quello della prenotazione. Alle mie rimostranze hanno risposto che la differenza sarebbe stata trattata come un “credito” per i servizi dell’hotel. Al primo tentativo di utilizzo presso il ristorante questo “credito” non risultava. Al check-out solo dopo una sgradevole discussione hanno accettato l’utilizzo parziale del “credito” iniziale senza rendermi la differenza. Tutto molto sgradevole. Detto questo unico aspetto apprezzabile è risultato il ristorante sulla spiaggia, molto valido. Il resto dell’hotel onestamente molto “basic”. La mia King Bed “Suite” aveva vista sui tetti delle capanne delle sistemazioni vicine, nessun armadio e nessuna TV. Rapporto qualità/prezzo pessima, specialmente tenuto conto della bassa stagione. Mai più.
