"Booked twin bedded room. Allocated room 35. Room had recently been refurbished. Excellent. Despite a wedding being held there it was quiet and restful. Self service cooked breakfast in morning was very good and staff were constantly on hand to top up on anything. Good choice of different foods. Would stay again in room 35 and any other refurbished rooms. Cannot judge any other rooms. Staff were helpful, attentive and friendly. G&S Canal and former Cadbury's factory. Cadbury's opened a factory adjacent to the Gloucester & Sharpness canal near Fretherne Bridge in 1916. The factory produced chocolate crumb from ground cocoa beans, sugar, and milk from local farms before being transported to the Bournville factory in Birmingham by narrowboat. The silo in the centre of the picture was added later to provide additional storage. The factory is now occupied by several businesses including Shipton Mill.
