Beautiful old property, lovely bathroom, beds need to be updated, air conditioning lacking and it’s was 38 degrees when we were there. The buffet was very good and replenished frequently. Would stay again."
"Perfect location to explore York on foot and nice breakfast with a good selection. The waffle maker was great. Large comfortable seating area by reception with a bar. Iced tap water available there too which was appreciated. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. Didn’t really see any staff at breakfast for the first couple of days but we worked everything out! Everything was clean except a rug in our bedroom that looked dirty. The beds were ok but the duvet cover and duvets were different sizes so it wasn’t very comfortable. I asked at reception but they said it was the same everywhere and nothing was changed. Peel road car park is the closest car park and is a few minutes walk away. The hotel offers discounts at different car parks but you have to ask, we didn’t get told anything beforehand. You don’t get a discount at peel but when we stayed the price was still cheaper than the other car parks. Reception helped us with all of this when we arrived and it all went smoothly."
"Firstly the double room which was alleged to be an upgrade was made up of two single beds being pushed together with two single quilts tucked into the side, this is not classed as a double bed. The Menu is the restaurant was very poor and very limited if you did not like pies you may struggle to get something to eat."
