DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City

8/10 Good
"The hotel is large, modern and clean. The rooms are spacious and very nicely furnished, with good tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer, iron/steamer and ironing board and a large tv. The hotel is well maintained and the rooms are quiet. The mattress was very firm, which unfortunately didn’t suit me or my husband, who can usually sleep on a firm mattress without issue, so this must have been extra firm to stop him sleeping. So we both slept badly. This was a shame as the hotel was lovely, but as sleeping well is a big part of the stay, it’s worth mentioning. The restaurant is nice with friendly staff. The food was okay with a varied menu. Buffet breakfast was nice with lots of options. The bar was nice with a comfortable and quiet lounge area to sit and have a chat after dinner or to work on your laptop. The parking is good, not free, with an option to pay for as long as you need via a kiosk inside the reception. We went at a quiet time with no football fixtures at the time and there were plenty of parking spaces available. We don’t know whether parking may be more difficult on match days as it’s right next door to the stadium. The location is good and easy to get to. Overall, recommended - if your back can tolerate a hard bed."
