"The staff were excellent, very knowledgeable, and spoke great English when our Japanese was lacking. They had all the amenities we needed from umbrellas to a scale for checking bag weight. Check in and check out was a breeze. The room we had was on the top floor so it had a good view and had good quality Nespresso pods so I didn't feel like we needed to get coffee from anywhere else. The room was also quite modern looking and well decorated but that is not always a good thing.
The many fixtures and details in the room meant there were lots of corners and little hard to reach spots that weren't super clean. The cleaning staff did an excellent job when they came in so I think this is a design problem more than anything. I would also caution guests from eating at the breakfast. There are so many yummy places near the hotel that cost a fraction of the $30+ dollars they charge per person.
Overall a great stay and I will stay there again next time I am in Kyoto."
