"I’ve stayed at this hotel several times (at least 6 times) over the last 3 years, every time I’m in London. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed over the last year the decline in quality.
The location is great, next to Aldgate station and just minutes away from Liverpool station. It’s also a short walk down to the river or over to Spitalfields Market.
In the rooms, the bed is extremely comfortable and there’s a lot of room for all of your things. They also have some nice amenities for your convenience and a small fridge, perfect for keeping drinks cold.
During this last stay, 2 of the 3 elevators were down for a portion of my stay. Also, my shower was lacking water pressure (I think the unit needs to be properly cleaned due to calcium build-up) and it didn’t heat properly. Also, I noticed on my last two stays that there’s an odd smell that resonates from the shower drain that’s quote off-putting. The choices and quality of room service has also gone down. During a stay in October, they completely forgot about my order and it took several calls down to the front desk and the restaurant to get resolved, which was really disappointing.
I really want to love this hotel like I used to, but I may have to look into staying elsewhere in the future."
