Shoreditch hotel guide. Ace Hotel hotel in Shoreditch, London

"I’ve stayed at this hotel several times (at least 6 times) over the last 3 years, every time I’m in London. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed over the last year the decline in quality. The location is great, next to Aldgate station and just minutes away from Liverpool station. It’s also a short walk down to the river or over to Spitalfields Market. In the rooms, the bed is extremely comfortable and there’s a lot of room for all of your things. They also have some nice amenities for your convenience and a small fridge, perfect for keeping drinks cold. During this last stay, 2 of the 3 elevators were down for a portion of my stay. Also, my shower was lacking water pressure (I think the unit needs to be properly cleaned due to calcium build-up) and it didn’t heat properly. Also, I noticed on my last two stays that there’s an odd smell that resonates from the shower drain that’s quote off-putting. The choices and quality of room service has also gone down. During a stay in October, they completely forgot about my order and it took several calls down to the front desk and the restaurant to get resolved, which was really disappointing. I really want to love this hotel like I used to, but I may have to look into staying elsewhere in the future."

"Every part of my experience was perfect. I honestly can't find any room for improvement. From the reasonable price, check-in/check-out hours and friendly crew to the immaculate room (very quiet and much larger than I expected) with excellent amenities--even the notepad was great!--to the fabulous food and drink. That beef carpaccio was amazing! I don't know if the staff had me confused with a celebrity, but they sure as heck treated me like one. "

"Fabulous hotel in Shoreditch, just 5-10 mins walk from Liverpool St station. The room was spacious and clean, we were a family of 4 staying and there was ample room. Would definitely recommend. "

"We arrived at the hotel almost 2 hours before check-in expecting to leave our bags there, but a room was available so they checked us in early which was good. The room was compact but well laid out so that it didn't feel cramped. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK. There was a good selection but it got crowded so some queuing was involved. The main issue with breakfast was the the hot items were warm at best (some of the mushrooms I got were actually cold). Aldgate East station is only a couple of hundred meters away, but be aware that there is no lift or escalators there (you will need to walk about 15 minutes to Whitechapel station if you require lifts). Also be aware that the hotel does not accept cash - we stayed here at the end of our English holiday and had some english currency we wanted to use up, but found a small takeaway (with a handful of eat-in tables) that was just across the road and did chicken wings, kebabs and burgers which we found very satisfactory for a quick evening meal."
