Scandic Grand Central Helsinki

"First the good: location, location, location. Very centrally located with very easy access to public transportation. Breakfast buffet was stellar - fresh options and lots of variety & lots of seating options. Courtyard access to back of property was well kept & very inviting. The lobby was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom flowers were heated - awesome! The not so good: Our room did not have a good view even being on 5th floor but it was quiet. The bathroom had a tub/shower combo (not really my favorite since you have a big step to get in and out) but the tub is a great soaking tube and pretty long, however once your bath is over & you open the drain the water came gushing out of the bottom of the tub…all over the floor soaking the rug on the floor. Thankfully the floor sloped under the sink & has a large drain so the water drained there somewhat quickly. We did call front desk but they said they did not have maintenance over the weekend but they offered us the opportunity to move. Having just been to Iceland and then on a cruise to multiple countries we didn’t want the hassle of moving & were afraid they wouldn’t have good room options available so we just took showers since there was no issue with flooding. Wish management had offered us something for the inconvenience of not being able to use the tub but they did not. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Scandic. The location can’t be beat."

"Close to airport and has airport shuttle service to and from at no cost. Cannot hear airplanes. Very clean and staff are very helpful. Breakfast is European but satisfying. Beds are a little firm. Great place. Definately would stay there again and close to HUGE Jumbo Mall with lots of food choices. Also a great greek restaurant near by!"

"The hotel is close to the train and bus station and also Kampii shopping centre. I only stayed there for three nights. The breakfast had a nice variation of hot and cold choices. It was also well located for the sights of Helskinki. I would definitely choose to stay there again if I visit Helskinki. I have to say Marcus who checked me in was very helpful"
