This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we’ve had — especially for the price.
The hotel is worn and overdue for a freshen up, but the real problem is the complete lack of soundproofing. We could hear our neighbours whispering word-for-word as if they were standing beside the bed. A sneeze from next door literally startled us awake. Every hallway sound carries straight into the room — doors slamming, conversations, footsteps and even music — despite the hotel not being busy. There appears to be no door seal at all, so hallway noise echoes constantly.
The room also had a strong musty odor. The hotel previously addressed it by placing air fresheners on the A/C vents, creating a fake floral smell mixed with mildew that actually gave us headaches.
Service was equally frustrating. I went to the front desk and asked for towels for the pool and was given towels without any explanation. When I got to the pool, I was stopped and told I couldn’t use them because they were “beach towels” — even though there isn’t even a beach at this resort. After explaining I received them from the front desk, I was told it was my mistake and I needed different towels. I then had to go back, wait in line again, and request “pool towels.” Completely unnecessary and poorly communicated.
We requested a room change — denied.
We requested a partial refund due to the conditions — also denied.
For charging these rates, basic sleep, comfort, and reasonable service should be expected
