The check in was fine. I was there because I needed a car repair after a mishap on NJ Tpke. It was over $200 for the room. When I got to the 10th floor there were at least 8 rooms adjacent to mine that had been painted that evening. I called the desk to be sure they hadn’t placed me on the 10th floor by mistake. It wasn’t a mistake. The fumes from the paint were strong and gave me a headache for 24 hours and I felt a bit nauseous. I considered asking for 50% refunded because one pays a premium rate to go to a Hilton (preferred brand), and the stay should be entirely acceptable. The room was fine, clean and comfortable. Some of the guests were sketchy and rude. Someone left a disgusting mess in one elevator, the likes of which I’ve never seen in my life at a hotel. The staff cleaned it up, but it was so gross, nobody ever should be obliged to that type of clean up. New Jersey needs to seriously class up. The pool area downstairs looked nice and the facilities for a conference seemed adequate. There was a Starbucks in the lobby, which was great.
