"The yurt was very comfortable and warm. The wood burner provides an ample heat and there was a good supply of wood. The bed was comfortable. Parking is simple and close by. The yurt is very much off grid. The cooker works well with bottled gas. There is no running water. To take a shower involves boiling a giant kettle and carrying the water to the wooden outbuilding and mixing with cold rain water then using a solar powered shower pump. Was impressed that you can shower with surprisingly little...

"There are 20 rooms here but the car park has about 7 parking spaces.
Be prepared if you have a long drive like I did - because there were no spaces when I got there, I bought myself an extra couple of hours (and a bathroom break) by shopping at the local Morrisons.
I was told by the staff of free parking on the weekend but everywhere I went to where they told me to was not free. Eventually I had to park at the railways station which brought me 24 hours parking.
The room was -very- humid. I had to open a the window as much as I reasonably could (it has a sign warning that if it’s left open too much the pigeons might get in). TV had basic freeview channels so if you like Ant and Dec, or Law and Order SVU, you’re probably going to be quite entertained.
Facilities otherwise ok, towels clean, bathroom clean. Not as many plug sockets as I’d like, I remember there being one, and I had to stretch it from the
I had to wait the next day for a parking space to be available in the hotel car park so I got to watch it intermittently until someone left and I could park long term.
As for staff helpfulness - I decided to leave early on my last day (the breakfast is ok, not worth staying for if you want to leave earlier for whatever reason), and going downstairs at 0500 there was nobody on reception and no apparent means to contact them. I later went down at 0600 and was nicely checked out by the security guard."
"Great location just off the main road, staff helpful, nice room, good parking, handy for steam railway & Buckfast Abbey, we enjoyed the evening menu (did not have breakfast)"
"Disappointed not to be able to have breakfast, but given the use of space in the fridge & warned so was able to take cereal, fruit yoghurt etc.
Very comfortable spacious room with bottles of water, tea & coffee in room."
"A grand old hotel in a wonderful location with just the right of formality to make it feel like somewhere special.
Extremely professional staff at all levels."
"Property was clean and presentable with parking clearly marked. Shame about lack of EV charging. The receptionist was lovely and welcoming.
The room light, airy with windows that open! Very clean and the bed comfortable. Would have liked bottled water, good job I brought some with me. Good choice of breakfast with the hot choice freshly cooked.
Hoping to go back to use the leisure facilities."
