when I checked in I wasn't. told how to get back in when I returned late at night. after I was dropped of by a taxi I found I was locked out. it was very dark so I couldn't, see what I was doing I was pressing door bells & banging on the door. Nobody came. It was midnight I am 81 years old & I found it very frightening as I do not know the area & I thought I was going to be locked out alnight. I walked to the main road & 2 young women helped me. They walked back to the house with me & one of them noticed the fob on my key ring she tapped it on the box by the side of the door & the door opened. I was so relieved if it Haden't been for them I don't know what I would have done. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. that could have been avoided if I was told about the fob on the key ring.

Bed very comfortable, tv worked, shower good, everything clean, local area ok. No reception as such, no guest lounge, no information about local amenities, the staff member who let me in vague when asked. Breakfast not good - cooked food very overdone, coffee atrocious, breakfast room dark and dingy (and was the only place where I could wait for my taxi next morning). Washed hair only to realise no hairdryer (apparently these were available on request, I later read in the hall).

We were shown to a poky, stuffy room next to the kitchen. Kitchen smells still lingering. The facilities were at best basic. Nowhere to sit apart from the small double bed. I can't comment on the breakfast because we decided not to spend the night. The area around the place looked a bit dodgy as well.

One word…. GRIM
How this place has a decent review score has made me question the validity of the reviews. The area was awful, the building was grim, the whole place was musty and grubby. It felt as if I had entered a half way house for the homeless. The smell of someone cooking greasy fish absolutely filled the air.. then backed up by the sound of drunk homeless looking people arguing outside other half way house looking buildings through the paper thin windows, was the last straw.. I had to leave..

Property looked much better in pictures, rooms very tired in particular bathrooms with many diy bodges and stale smell, breakfast ok but host not very friendly, apart from fried food all Diy service. Location for visiting central city perfect.

The hotel fulfilled my requirements in easy reach of the office Xmas do & the cost was less than others like Premier Inn and it parking on-site & adjacent, the twin room was clean but dated and it had shared bathroom. At £68/night I thought it reasonable

Fine for a business stop over
In a good location for central Southampton. Presentable hotel, friendly service and a good breakfast. Shower was a bit pathetic and EV charging would be a useful addition.

small cozy hotel with good and understanding staff. But the hotel has poor acoustics and you can hear sounds from other rooms close to you, you can imagine as if you are nearby and understand who is doing what

The property was clean and tidy, breakfast was great. Walking distance to mayflower theatre and all the shops (10 minutes to the shops) One little thing is you cannot close the doors to the bedrooms quietly! It was perfect for our stay and we would definitely stay again.

I liked the location - 4 mins from Mayflower Theatre and just 5 mins from Southampton Railway Station Very good television - excellent picture Breakfast quite good

A nice local b&b located within 10 minutes walk of the city centre. Functionable room and the only gripe is the shower needs a bit more power.

The price should be a lot lower for this substandard accommodation . The approach to the B&B is an embarrassment . The behaviour and bad language from their neighbours was disgusting. The bed and the mattresses were very old, & of poor Quality . Headboard was hanging off ,had to remove it for safety . The Claremont house is only fit for down & outs . It’s not worthy of calling it a B& B . The best you could do is return my £90 cost .with a sincere apologies. One night stay .Saturday 3rd June .2023 . Mary scholz .

Perfect find for what we wanted.
Excellent find for pre cruise departure. I found this gem of a place before our holiday and thought for the price should be okay. I was over the moon throughout the stay. Check in a breeze and staff lovely. Quaint and spotless. I was apprehensive about the shared bathroom as when I did before, the experience was bad. NOT in this case. Both toilets and shower rooms were grand and althoigh the shower flow a little slow, I was still able to was effectively. Will definitely use again and my even treat us to two nights.

Great little find
Great location for Mayflower theatre and central Southampton. Staff really friendly and inviting. Room was nice and breakfast was fantastic and made yo order in the quaint cafe style dining room. Definitely stay here again. A bit like staying at your friend's house.

Close location to train station. Great breakfast!
Overall stay is satisfactory except the wifi is slow and will be disconnected from time to time. The cooked breakfast was excellent!

Overall a nice place :)
Very nice and clean room, but it was positioned between a shower room and a toilet, so I did hear some unpleasant noises in the evening. Throughout the night I used earplugs and a sleeping mask - I slept very well, warm and cosy.

Centralt beliggende hyggelig hotel
Dejligt hotel meget centralt. Engelsk morgen mad . Værelset havde fjernsyn, køleskab, elkedel hvor der kunne laves the og kaffe. Det er ikke moderne , men hyggelig engelsk stil.
