Lovely welcoming couple and very accommodating considering we booked and arrived last minute.
Very informative about the location, loved the guest information in the room. 👍
Room was fantastic. Very clean and had everything we needed. Windows were top notch considering its location is on a mian road and busy with traffic. Lovely sea view over the rooftops and trees.
Made sure we were able to park as no spaces left to the front of the b&b just a short distance away.
Breakfast choice was amazing. Hats off to the chef, breakfast was beautiful each morning. Plus top service.
We asked for clean towels. Room was cleaned and fresh towels given. Very impressed.
Location has all you could ask for. Supermarket, beach, pubs, restaurants and pharmacy all a short distance walk away.
St. Ives is a short distance away by car, bus or taxi. Bus is the cheapest option and very accessible with a bus stop couple of yards from the b&b. Taxi from St. Ives cost us under £10. 👍
Would 100% recommend.
Lovely guest house run by a friendly couple- John and Linda. Accommodation and room were very clean. Bed was comfortable. An impressive range of vegetarian and vegan options at breakfast. Convenient location. We would highly recommend! :-)
We really enjoyed our stay in this guest house. John and Linda are the best hosts ever! As it was a very last minute booking for us and did not have time for much research, we did not know what to expect and the pandemic situation made us a little concerned as well.
However the room stood up to very high cleanliness standards. The towels and sheets smelled lovely.
John was very welcoming as we arrived and gave us a lot of handy tips.
Linda cooks the best breakfast ever!
They are both very capable in what they do and could be an example to imitate by others in this business.
I would definitely recommend it to others
We really apreciated our stay at Thurlesone. Linda and John, warm and caring hosts with a good sense of humour gave very good information of what to see in the st.Ives area.. A beautiful room with a nice view, very clean and delicate. Coffee, tea, biscuits and chocolate every day. A modern bathroom. All you could ask for in a cosy breakfastroom. A lot of fresh flowers, and a smiling John serving his guests.
Clean and tidy with a good sea view. Easy to commune to beaches and town by walking or public transport. Room is nice, with good amenities, good wifi and clean bathroom. John and Linda are very friendly and trying their best to welcome us and prepare very nice breakfast for us.
Our hosts greeted us warmly after our trudge up the hill from the little train station at Carbis Bay (if only we'd read that they'd gladly pick us up when we arrived!). Within moments we were booked for dinner at a nearby pub, and that set the tone for our stay at Thurlestone House. Whatever our need, from laundry to dinner to a taxi, our host was ready with the phone, and had us in motion almost as soon as we mentioned it.
Generous hours for breakfast. They provided a variety of cold cereals, yogurts and homemade jams, plus fruits and juices. Each person had a personal coffee or tea pot. And then they would ask, "Are you ready for breakfast?" The full English breakfast, of course, which could include sausage, beans, tomatoes and eggs, or salmon, bacon, croissants, or other toast or muffins. I've not included everything-- plenty of variety, all done well.
At breakfast, they would ask, "Where are you going today?" And they were truly interested. "We're going to Mousehole today," we said. "Oh, dear little Mousehole. We love it there." They had plenty of suggestions how to get places and what not to miss. It was such a pleasure to be with them.
Our room was pleasant, and the sea view we paid for did not disappoint.
We loved our stay in Cornwall, and had a wonderful time at Thurlestone House.
Excellent attention to detail and run by a genuinely pleasant couple. The rooms are well decorated with lovely comfortable beds. The breakfast is amazing with great choice, and sets you up for the day. We didn't eat lunch at all. Acess to the beach is directly opposite and takes 5 minutes to walk. It is very steep though and is not an easy walk back if you have any difficulty walking. St.Ives is a 10 minute bus ride away with regular service to town and the local area in general. Great location, wonderful guest house. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
The owners of this B&B are both gracious and very knowledgeable. Their advice on where and what to see, do, and eat was invaluable. The building is located across the street from a steep trail through a wooded area to the beach (about 5 minutes away). Good exercise! The main bus line into St. Ives runs right in front of the B&B, so we just parked our car (5 spaces in front) and took the bus into town (£2.40 each way, discount when you buy a round-trip ticket). Parking in St. Ives is nearly impossible. The included breakfast is generous and early (8 to 9 a.m.); the eggs were cooked to order perfectly. Note: checkout is at 10 a.m.
Bed and breakfast doesn’t come any better than the Thurlestone. The rooms are really nice with very comfy beds, tea and coffee facilities, nice shower and everywhere is spotlessly clean. Breakfast is fantastic, plenty of choice and very tasty. The proprietors Linda and John are what make this place special, their attention to detail is second to none. All in all, the best place around.
Excellent breakfast, gracious, friendly, and helpful hosts. Forty minute walk to downtown St. Ives. Frequent buses available. Great location to avoid St. Ives narrow streets.
A very good experience we had, the hosts were really friendly and nothing was too much. The parking is a bit tight but there is parking for all guests. The breakfasts were delicious.
G.Sin John and Linda treated us like family. THey went o it if their way to ensure we were comfortable and happy. John briefed us on where to eat and explained the highlights of St. Ives. Their breakfasts were amazing
