"Good free breakfast for all guests although we were charged extra by Expedia which was annoying. Dated decor in the rooms but clean bathroom. Our room was very cold and the heating only worked intermittently (we turned the radiator to full but it came on for about an hour one night and roasted us on the final night, two other nights had no heating at all). Parking was ok but we got the last available space on a couple of days after going out… I think you can park in the approach road for free...

"We received a very warm welcome upon arrival from the reception staff. They were very helpful and friendly Our room was very nice and clean. The shower over the bath could do with upgrading The grounds are beautiful and although it was very busy with two weddings and and abundance of golfers there was plenty of staff to accommodate the demand. "Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. A real asset to the Old...

"Have visited Lumley on many occasions and have been very happy. On this occasion, we were a bit disappointed with the room which was in the stable block. Although it was quite large, the windows did not close property, outlook from window very poor and room was very noisy as people going up and downstairs - the staircase was right next to room. Staff were very nice and bar food good. Would stay again but wouldn't want the same room."
