  • Tuskegee University, one of the largest historically black universities in the United States, is a private university located in Tuskegee, Alabama. It was founded by Lewis Adams, a former slave, and George W. Campbell, a former slave owner. Adams asked that an educational institution for blacks be established. After Foster won the election, $2,000 (per year) was allocated from the state general budget for such a school to be located in Macon County. It was officially founded on July 4th, 1881, with Booker T. Washington, then a 25-year-old teacher at Hampton Institute in Virginia, as its first principal, a position he maintained until his death in 1915. Tuskegee acquired university status in 1985. Today it offers undergraduate, masters, professional, and doctoral degrees to more than 3,000 students with a strong orientation toward the relationship between education and work force preparation in the sciences, professions and technical areas. It was the first black college to be designated as a Registered National Historic Landmark (1966), and is the only black college to be designated as a National Historic Site.

Didnt stay

Didnt not stay there. When i arrived they told me that they have changed management and didnt not take online reservations any more and didnt seem that friendly. Also it looked run down and im glad i didnt stay so we went to a different hotel in Shorter that was nice cleaner and friendly

"Open" but no serve

No staff for check-in. When I drave there, the door was closed although the sign showed "open". I arrived around 10Pm so I need a rest ASAP after a long driving. I pressed the bell but no one response. I tried about 10 minutes and there was yelling. I felt dangerous so selected leave. No cell phone signal so I could not call anyone. When I left, 3 police cars came.

There was human feces on towels hidden under the the sink and bed bug. The man up seem to be disassociated and not comprehendin the problem.

I want a refund, the property manager refuses to take my call or anything. We could not even sleep no AC, no TV, left as soon as sun came up stayed for 3 hours we were so tired but place was unfit. Not sure how it is still open. Bugs, someone vandalized my car. It was horrid.

The place is not suitable to stay. As for the receptionist, he was very nice and understood the situation and was so kind to me to get my money back and cancel the reservation. All thanks to him

The murder room

The room smelled of strong chemical. The carpet stuck to the bottoms of your shoes. The walls have paint patches of different colors to cover up what ever reason. The bed sheets were stained. We had extra bedding in my car that we used and left behind. The furniture had stains and a sticky substance, could have been of the sexual nature? This could have been a murder room at one time.

The worst experience I've ever had at a hotel

Should have known when the front desk guy came to the office window to check me in wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. We stayed all of one hour. This place has bed bugs. When I captured one in a cup and told the front desk and was told. 'We don't have bedbugs and no refunds'. The air conditioner had no knobs and really didn't work. Place was so filthy. Found trash from previous inhabitants all over. We were going to stick it out since we were evacuating from New Orleans and hurricane Ida but then a bed bug walked across my pillow. I can't believe this place is allowed to operate in this deplorable condition. It should not be on your website. I have photos but this site will not allow me to attach them. You may email me if you want them. This place was absolutely filthy.

Not for Families

It served its purpose, shower & get organized. Not clean to family with children standards, lots of flies and a fast bug (that I couldn’t identify) that scurried across the floor never to be seen again, so I checked out early & didn’t stay the night. Just now, u get what you pay for!
