The cooking classes offered at the Chateau are a wonderful way to experience French cooking in the intimate company of a master chef (pictured here is Jean-Louis Vosgien). Each day you and few other guests help prepare a multi-course meal using fresh local ingredients (we even went to market one day to shop). After a few hours of instruction, prepping, cooking, and plating the meal comes together as lunch for the entire class right there in the kitchen.

For us, the highlight of the two-day class was the asparagus risotto. We watched while Jean-Louis methodically reduced a two-pound pile of butter to a smear of grease as he mixed it into the rice. The result was the richest, creamiest risotto we've ever tried.
