What a wonderful place to stay. The hotel rooms have been converted beautifully with keeping the charm of the thick moldings and big heavy doors. Hotel was quiet and staff was friendly. The view of the Harbor and sleeping giant is on point and worth the uograde to stay on that side. Lots of parking which is a bonus for Port Arthur. Close to downtown where all the niche food and bars are. Sadly slept in and missef breakfast but will definitely get next time. Bravo

While the hotel itself was nice, the ventilation system was very loud. I had to wear airpods to be able to sleep.

Decor of old style well appointed hotel. hotel located in a former busy areaof the city located behind hospital. traffic light and parking fairly easy in earlier part of evening. wifi great without any trouble.

Overall, my stay had a lot of positives. The building itself is beautiful and full of character. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were friendly. My room was large, spacious, and nicely renovated. Although the room was in the basement, it really didn’t feel like it because there were several large, low windows that brought in lots of natural light. Unfortunately, there were some issues with the room. As soon as I arrived, I noticed a strong smell of sweat. When I looked at the bedding, every pillowcase and the sheets had dog hair on them. It made me question whether the sheets had been changed, or if they had been washed with with excessive dog hair and a lot of it remained stuck to the bedding. There were also visible stains on the sheets. In addition, the actual pillows themselves seemed like they needed to be washed because they had an unpleasant sweat odour. Because of this, I ended up sleeping in my clothes on top of the bed. I'm also not the type of person to call the front desk and cause a scene over issues, while I was definitely unhappy with the condition of the bedding, I tend to just make do with what I’m given and carry on. That said, this hotel really does have a lot going for it. With more attention to housekeeping details, this place could easily be an excellent stay. The hotel should also reconsider allowing pets in their establishment. It truly feels like a hotel with a lot of potential, and just needs some fine-tuning.

This was a lovely historic building which was remodeled from the old Thunder Bay Courthouse to a modern hotel. The rooms were beautifully done with much of the old woodwork and historical charm. We slept very comfortably on quality mattresses and bedding. The WiFi was fast, but the TV was difficult to maneuver through. The hotel amenities were sparse with a very small basement fitness room and a very basic breakfast which I would rate as fair in quality. The parking lot and sidewalk into the building was not maintained and it was very treacherous to get in an out of the building with icy and frozen slush built up for the 4 days we were there. There was no outdoor maintenance staff in site to plow, shovel or spread salt or sand anywhere. This was a surprise for such a nice, rather pricey hotel. The staff was very accommodating and did all they could to give us a comfortable stay. I would stay there again, most likely in the spring thru fall seasons.

Room was 58 F on arrival, thermostat was off, a small electric heater was running . Turned on the thermostat with no change noted, left for 2 hours had gone up to 59 F. Called the desk and the reception clerk came up and said there was nothing he could do because the hotel was full. Maybe change rooms tomorrow. The tiny heater warmed the room up by 1 degree every hour or 2 and we managed to sleep. No one ever returned or tried to fix the problem, we ran the electric heater continuously till we left after the second night. On checkout a different clerk was not surprised when i told her we had no central heat and voiced an apology. No attempt was made to fix the problem or compensate us for the problem, and no one seemed concerned about the fire risk of running a space heater in our room for 2 days nonstop. When we checked online after the desk clerk said the hotel was full, we found that the hotel was still taking reservations. While staying there we saw no attempt to shovel the parking areas or walkways and we noticed that the fire exits were piled with snow. If the space heater had caused a fire we might not have been able to exit.

Staff are excellent, rooms are new and lovely. I can only give three stars for a winter visit. Heating units in rooms we were in could not keep up with the cold. Bathroom floor icy cold. I would still recommend although ask for a room that has better heating.

Absolutely love this place. Loads of character. Great breakfast. Big rooms with high ceilings. Huge bathrooms with heated floors. Extremely comfy beds. Great location. My preferred place to stay in the bay.
