⭐️ 1-Star Review – Unsafe and Unacceptable Stay
I stayed one night at RiverStay in downtown Toronto, and it was a terrible experience.
When we arrived, the room was already in poor condition: the closet door was broken, the floor was damaged, and the washing machine was full of used towels and bedsheets. Despite this, we did not complain and tried to tolerate it.
At 12:20 AM, the entire building’s fire alarm went off and was extremely loud. We were staying with four young children, including a baby, and the alarm terrified them. With no clear instructions or reassurance, and fearing for safety, we had no choice but to leave the building at around 12:45 AM.
It was cold and snowing, and we stood outside with crying children trying to find somewhere safe. Many other guests were also outside, proving this was not a minor issue.
I contacted the building manager requesting a refund since we were forced to leave. The response was shocking: we were told to “stay calm,” that the alarm was “no problem,” and that there is a no-refund policy. This lack of empathy and responsibility—especially toward families with children—is unacceptable.
I have videos as proof of the alarm and guests outside in the snow.
I am writing this to warn others: do not stay here. Poor room condition and the worst management team I’ve ever experienced.
