I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. It has undergone a few rebrandings, as it is now. I have always appreciated that it is a budget hotel with a kitchen to save some $ making breakfast in the room. However...
When I received my confirmation for this stay there was a disclaimer that the hotel is under renovation but no work is done after 5pm. At 9:10pm workers were using a hammer drill to drill into the plaster wall between my room and the next. Of the four rooms on my floor, two were under renovation and there were at least three workers working at 9:10pm. I called down to the desk and she said there were no renovations going on. Eventually the front desk person came up and was surprised to see and hear the construction. After contacting management she assured me it would stop within 10 minutes. While the hammer drilling did stop, work continued well into the night. Pounding. Doors opening and slamming. Rustling plastic.
There was no heat in the room either. They have installed mini-spilts but no warm air ever comes out. Had the temperature up high and waited more than an hour. Ended up sleeping in my long underwear, a long sleeve T and a toque.
The next morning when I tried to cook breakfast, the stove was not working. I called down to the front desk and she informed me that in the "terms of service" there is a $30 fee to turn the stove on.
One of the worst stays I've had. And I'm a budget traveler with pretty basic needs. I won't ever be back.
I booked this hotel after my son had an operation, I decided on the penthouse suite as it said it was one bedroom with a kitchen….
This room was one room with 3 beds. It’s kitchen was terrible, a small unit in the corner of the room with a coffee maker a small countertop oven that I was told if I used it there was a surcharge of $25 and a microwave… if I used the crockery and did not wash it up there would be a $25 surcharge, now I have no problem tidying up after myself at all and washing up, a facility I needed as my son had a broken jaw and had to have everything liquidised. But to my dismay there is no sink!!! I had to wash up in the sink in the bathroom or the bath right next to the toilet!!! This is not acceptable at all! I did ask the staff exactly how they expected you to wash up when there was no sink!! Plus then you have to think the crockery that is there has all been washed up in the bathroom too! And we all know the fecal matter that would be in the air when you flush the toilet is not something you want around your plates and knives and forks! Hasten to add we did not use any of the crockery!
The location is fantastic, as to the room I was massively disappointed!
The overall condition of the room was cery dated(I would say seventies and eighties), especially appliances and furniture. However the bed was comfortable. We stayed 6 days and even upon our request to clean the room the sheets were never changed, bathroom not cleaned.. We had to run after clean towels and face cloths.. Windows and patio door do not close entirely so noise and cold from the outside came through. The staf was very friendly though and location perfect.
This hotel is some floors of an older building. I’m not sure what they used for photos in the Expedia ad, but I did not recognize anything from the photos when I arrived at the hotel. The check-in experience made me feel like a criminal with all the information and ID requirements for every person staying in the room. I would not stay at this hotel again.
Loved the suite, it’s an older hotel that they are in the process of renovating. I had one of the penthouse suites last night and I really enjoyed it. I sat in the jet tub when it was raining and when it wasn’t I sat on the patio and looked at the city lights and harbour views :) well worth the stay !!!
This hotel was not what was pictured or advertised online. It’s also on its third rebrand, which was very odd and made finding it hard and there was no signage for the name we booked?
Our queen 1 bedroom w kitchen was two double beds in the main space with the bedroom w the queen bed locked. It would cost extra to unlock the bedroom. The stove also could not be used without paying extra.
Nothing felt clean, there was dirt covering the floor and hair and stains on the beds and towels. New towels also had stains.
Certain floors smelled horribly of cigarette smoke that could be smelled when the elevator door opened.
We tried to talk to Expedia and the hotel manager about getting a refund and the manager could not be reached despite multiple attempts. We ended up going out to buy new blankets to put on top of the beds to sleep on when it became clear the front desk staff could not refund us, and we could not speak to the manger. We also purchased cleaning supplies and deep cleaned the space, including cleaning baseboards, mopping the floor, cleaning fixtures and the shower. They did offer to come clean the room again, but by that point it was hours after we had brought up our concerns. It seems there was only one person working at the time, and cleaning definitely wasn’t her job, so I understand the delay as she must have been very busy.
There was also an altercation on the floor we were on and we were worried for those people’s safety.
I stayed here twice. the first time was ok, although there was a strong paint thinner or some sort of solvent smell near the entry of the room. i did not complain. the second time, i was charged for a "stained body towel" which i did not create. The hotel would not reverse this ridiculous charge, therefore they will not see me staying there again.
Honestly had a terrible time, the hotel is very cheap we came cause there’s a smoke teriyaki event and because we smelled coming back they charged 250 dollars. The front desk are nice but there’s a little lady I think she’s the manager, she’s extremely
Rude. I’m going to have to dispute my credit charge because we certainly did not smoke in the room. Very unacceptable behaviour from staff.
