This was an amazing stay with a bouquet facility close to the park. The host had clean rooms and small touch’s around the room and property that made this a rememberable experience.

This review is long overdue, but the proprietors of this property deserve a shout out. This property was absolutely stunning. Nestled in the rainforest, the October evenings and mornings were cool and crisp, and quiet, but teeming with sounds of wildlife. We were provided with tasty pastries and fruit for our stay. In the daytime, we ventured to the black sand beaches, Kilauea, a farmer’s market, and nearby towns. We absolutely loved our room, which had a fireplace, very comfortable beds, small kitchenette, and good supply of local snacks, local non-alcoholic beverages, and french press coffee and teas. Our stay at Crater’s Edge was the highlight of our Hawaii vacation. Next time we are in Hawaii, we will definitely find our way back to this property. Our only complaint is that the hot tub jacuzzi wasn’t working…..they were waiting on parts to repair it. Highly recommend staying here.

Dies war die tollste Unterkunft, in der wir je waren. Ganz nah am Nationalpark gelegen, super sauber, eine fantastische Ausstattung, umwerfend nette Gastgeber, mitten im Dschungel und seinen nächtlichen Geräuschen, einige schöne Restaurants in der Nähe und nicht zuletzt der Hot Tub. All das machte "At The Crater's Adge" zu unserem Highlight.

Fantastic Hidden Gem

We were impressed from the moment we arrived. The setting is amazing, with two of the best hosts around! No details were ever overlooked, from the assortment of snacks to the already prepped coffee. Room was beautiful! We enjoyed getting some recommendations and volcano updates. My only complaint was that we had to leave. We will be back for sure!

This stay was one of the highlights of our trip to the Big Island. Eric & Chris are exceptional hosts who have thought of EVERYTHING. They were very communicative and accommodated our check-in later than originally planned and met us personally to orient us to the property and make local recommendations based on our trip plans. This property is full of luxurious amenities and thoughtful touches like fresh flower garnishes, heated floors, french pressed coffee in the mornings and many more for you to discover. The location is a very short drive to Volcanoes National Park and the property itself is surrounded by lush rainforest plants and wild chickens. The stargazing at night here is epic. The room is also very private and comfortable for couples - absolutely suitable for a honeymoon or other romantic trip. Highly recommend! Mahalo Eric & Chris!

The property is surrounded by a tranquil rainforest feel. Room is beautifully decorated and filled with special touches, including fresh baked banana bread and many goodies! 10 mins from volcano national park.

AMAZING!!!

Amazing experience. Chris was so welcoming. The details of the room were perfect- beautiful space, great amenities, clean, and comfortable. Seems like everything was thoughtfully planned including snacks to take on the road, umbrellas, and binoculars.

Our stay was truly exceptional. At The Crater's Edge is beautiful and serene allowing us to fully relax and unwind. Our hosts, Chris and Eric, were outstanding in their attention to detail. Their thoughtfulness was evident in every aspect of our experience. This was easily our favorite place to stay while in Hawaii.

The host did not inform us the hot tub was broken. I wish we were allowed the opportunity to cancel since it was the main reason for our stay. Communication is key. Seems based on another review, this issue was already present.

Nothing wrong with the property whatsoever. The problem is that we were LIED to! This property was advertised on Expedia as having a hot tub which was a major reason for us chosing this unit. This was the most expensive room on the volcano and would have been worth it if they delivered on their promise. Before you book, you'd better make sure everything is in working order. The owners did NOTHING to offer restitution for the shortcoming. BE WARNED!!!

Every detail has been thought of! The room was beautiful, spacious, comfortable, and had everything you could need!! You really feel like you have your own private jungle bungalow. Slept like a rock in the comfy bed and the rain on the roof! Eric and Chris were SO great, wish we had more time to chat with them. next time :) It's super close to the park. I can’t say enough great things about this place. The owners are wonderful, and there are thoughtful touches throughout the entire room. There’s nothing quite like falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest. Literally 5 minutes from Volcano National Park, and feels secluded but safe. When I come back to Big Island, I’ll definitely go out of my way to stay here again. Thank you Eric, Chris, and Po!

Romantic tropical paradise

Not a traditional hotel, but more of a B&B, this place shattered expectations. The room was absolutely gorgeous and very romantic with a king bed, private porch, whirlpool tub and a fireplace in an ultra tropical environment. The owners were warm and friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special. It's also only 5ish minutes from Volcano National Park, which was perfect for us. 10/10 would definitely stay again!

Paradise Found, At the Crater's Edge

Every detail considered and executed flawlessly. It was the full realization of your tropical dream vacation - floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking dense jade forests dotted with comedically perfect pink and red flowers. Our room had a warm seat bidet, a rain-fed shower from their cistern, gratis snacks aplenty, THE most beautiful duvet cover I've ever seen. The birds and frogs chirping their unique songs felt like I was listening to the Calm app all night. Everything was immaculate and, again, every detail was spot-on; you can just tell that this is the type of place that the hosts would hope to stay in. Communication ahead of time with Chris was seamless, and I left hoping that Eric and I would be lifelong friends. Personal note: I am a picky little princess and I left the property with a tear in my eye and looking at dates to come back again for another visit.
