The Royal Hawaiian Hotel was a big disappointment. The room price far exceeds the quality
Food was ok - not great - even the coffee was watered down with no flavor. Wait staff uniforms look tired and blah - they allow any shoes which cheapens the look
The staff says next year will be a refresh of the property I hope it is much more than a “refresh”.

"The good: Great location with just a walk across the street to the beach (yes they supply the chairs). 5 - 20 min walks to shopping (Target to H&M to Fendi) The staff is super friendly.
The bad: unfortunately, the hotel is being renovated but they keep the renovations neat and out of the guests way and it didn't effect the pool, restaurants or stores.
The really bad: if you want quiet get a high room it's super noisy some nights. Also we had issues with the hot water, not getting hot for...

"The Noise of the staff and others staying at the motel! I was on the ground floor, close to the office. At 5am, male employees (?) were outside speaking very loudly; at night people were outside partying, very loudly, nothing was done about it.
The room had paint peeling over the bathroom sink and around the walls. There was only one small trash can to use."

"The breakfast/gathering area smelled and the floor could use a good cleaning. The food was repetitive and not that great. The only item I looked forward to was the fresh fruit. My room smelled musty and damp. The room was run down, bed was uncomfortable. We watched the pool staff and were impressed with the care given to the pool. Maybe I missed it, but the resort fee was steep and came as a surprise. Not sure what $376 covered. Staff was exceptionally kind and pleasant in the dining...
