"I thought I had booked a room with 2 queen beds but when we checked in only the handicap room was available with two double beds. It wasn't a problem but I felt bad taking up them handicap room in case someone who really needed it showed up and needed a room. The check in lady said it was the only room available. It was really nice that the hotel is connected to the restaurant so you don't have to go outside. The computer was not working when we checked in and there was 4 people there waiting...

"We were greeted by a large private security guard who stared us down and blocked our entrance to the front desk to check in! Not the experience we were expecting. It felt very uncomfortable and unsafe. I felt like if I would have said anything the guard would have stopped me and made me leave. "I travel to Iowa City monthly, and two of my usual hotels have recently closed, so I finally decided to try the Garden Inn. It has always been a little more expensive, but this was a celebration weekend, so we went for it. Overall, we had a good time. The parking garage was being renovated, and I still had to pay $15 to park in a farther garage across the street. Not a huge deal, but a helpful heads-up for other travelers. "Evening kick-back offering of food options was wonderful. Room was simply outstanding. Breakfast choices were exceptional. Very large seating area. Staff was great. Everything was very clean. Only mixed comments were that there were a tremendous amount of older travelers occupying a lot of the space in common areas; bus tours. Also, hot tub jets were either underpowered or not working properly. And, extra $50 fee for a small dog was simple price gouging. However, would most definitely stay here...

"My week-long stay in Coralville was great. The room was quiet and clean. The location was convenient for me, visiting a family member at nearby Summit. The best part of the stay was the service provided by the staff, who were friendly and helpful. The night clerk helped me with a very late check-in and greeted me on my return each night. “Iowa Nice” for sure. Many thanks, and I will return on my next visit to Coralville."
