"Hotel parking lot is half destroyed by tree roots and appears under construction. Pool wasn't open, but looked like they are cleaning it or something. We arrived about 40-45mins after 3pm check-in, and rooms were not ready. Another family appeared to to have been waiting ahead of us. They were polite enough to apologize and provide explanation that the hotel had a couple bud loads of people that had checked out that morning. It was not a long wait, but we were moved rooms from what I overheard. The hotel store is very minimal, but meets simple needs. Our room was clean and in order. We paid weekend prices and likely. More because it was one night and not the weekend. I would say that the location is great in relation to Busch Gardens and access to 64 for travelling. It's accessible enough to go through to town for food, shopping, and entertainment. "

"Very comfortable apartment. I really appreciated the 2 bedroom/2 bath layout since I was traveling with my sister. No amenities to speak of in the off season. (I was hoping for a relaxing soak in the hot tub one night but there were screaming children everywhere, including an apparently unsupervised 4 or 5 year old in the tub.) We did appreciate the electric car charger--it was slow but our room was close enough we could leave the car overnight. There was an attractive outdoor deck but there was no way we could go out there; it was literally swarming with giant carpenter bees."

"Woodlands tends to be crowded with a lot of kids and school groups but there are definitely quieter areas of the hotel. I loved the room I was in, the breakfast offerings were fine, the daily housekeeping service is a luxury, and the staff are terrific. Definitely CW has fancier places to stay but I love the Woodlands."

"Overall the room was clean; linens, towels were all fresh. The bed was super comfortable. Sean at the front desk was an absolute gem. Pleasant, courteous and full of information and tips on the surrounding area. Breakfast was at a neighboring restaurant. Dont forget to pick up your 10% discount coupon at the front desk. Parking was ample and easy. Right in front of your room. The only concern I had was a small amount of mold on the upper window trim in the bathroom. No venting in there, just a heat lamp. I’d have no problem staying again. Very budget friendly and very walkable to Colonial Williamsburg and Voodoo Brewing."

"One word- cockroach. I went to bed around 11:00PM, and I looked up at the ceiling to a bug I had never seen before. I texted my daughter a pic and asked her what it was. It was a cockroach. She said VA was known to have a problem with them. I stood on the bed and banged a book against it, and it fell. I took another picture, to make sure I had identified it. I only stayed one night, and hardly slept at all. I found out that the contact info that the owner shared with me was only texting, when I called about the cockroach. She had said she could be reached until 10:30PM only. I texted her questions BEFORE 10:30 about how to get the fan to work without having the light on, asked her about breakfast (it was a separate charge) at 9:55 but no response. My last text was at 11:47, when I told her to cancel breakfast. I texted her again at 9:44 am. I had found a hotel that didn't have cockroaches. Her other issues: the room smelled musty, probably from the cockroach problem. The faucet dripped. The AC was not adequate. There was no ice. The coffee machine overflowed. Drawers to put my clothes and things were filled with tacks, old office supplies and electronic detritus. It was a horrible experience. I asked her for a refund and told her it was a morally correct thing to do. She told me that I MUST HAVE BROUGHT THE COCKROACH in with my luggage. It was absurd This owner clearly has issues with maintaining this property. She refused accountability. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!"
