Unfortunately we arrived the day after the hotel had been full by a large group and the staff had great difficulty in catching up, rooms delayed, breakfast a bit of a mess up, this is the third stay at this hotel, previously excellent.

The hotel positives. Comfy beds and a nice varied buffet breakfast with nice real coffee available. The gym was well equipped. The steam room and pool were pretty dirty actually. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and if the weather is nice lovely to sit outside with a drink after dinner. Our room was basic and dark. My advice is check if there’s a wedding or function going on. We found the corridors very noisy and don’t expect to get to sleep before 12 midnight. It quieten down about 1 am. I am sure if no function then this would be earlier. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel if you are looking for a nice quiet relaxing break. The spa is small and with only a few guests seems very busy. There was a lovely small through reception. I wish I could be a bit more positive.

Loved this hotel. Really quiet location. Room was lovely and clean. Staff were helpful and very friendly. Spa and pool area was immaculate . We didn’t eat dinner but breakfast was lovely with a really good selection and loads of choice We’ve already rebooked for May.

The old manor looks lovely. The New building does not look at all apprpriate in the beautiful setting.

It was ok, nothing great. The restaurant and bar seemed to be the better parts. Room was basic but comfortable. Shower door was broken and wouldn’t close, causing flooding when showering. We were very surprised robes weren’t provided in the rooms and had an additional charge to use, along with towels to use at the pool. A fee for an extra towel so you don’t have to take your bath towel is strange.

Great Receptionist :-)
Stayed for a night on the way to Oxford. Reception area and staff were great. When we got to our room we discovered there was no bath and that was a top priority for me, I phoned down to reception and the lady was fantastic, I wasn’t sure of her name, but she was so understanding and found us a room with a bath and we moved within 10 minutes. You were amazing thank you!! We used the pool and enjoyed the facilities. Good nights sleep. Very happy. Thank you.

Comfortable stay
Arrived in the dark so didn’t realise the car park was a distance from the hotel. The hotel is very spread out. Must be a lovely location in the summer. Nice welcoming reception and comfortable room. Took advantage of sauna and steam room.

This property is listed as a 4 stars but this does not worth it at all.... The property is tired, the room was ok and spacious as we stayed in a Superior, but the bathroom needs to be refreshed. The spa area is very basic and eventhouigh they charge a lot of money, you don't get the usual amenities (i was not provided a robe, nor sleepers.... Nothing). The pool area is very old, there is no one watching it even during kids time which was concerning. It is wet and slippery everywhere. The corridor flooring to the changing room is dark with mold as it is all wet all the time. The food is not good, honestly even the caesar salade is not good... I would not go there to eat. Plus it's not a proper restaurant, you are served in a banquet hall room, some chairs are banquet chairs... The breakfast is ok but there was way too many ppl for the amnount of food so one day it was a bit of a battle to get something. There is NO staff... I mean nor near enough, you wait so long for everything (including buffet to be restock). All in all it was a poor stay, we would not recommend this property if someone is expecting a 4 star, and also this hotel should not be VIP. This is really far from the other VIP properties we stayed in.

We recently invested over 2 million in the hotel and will continue to do so and part of this will be some of the bathrooms missed in the investment. Your comments regarding the food will of course be passed on to the chef and although we serve hundreds of people successfully each week, all feedback is greatly appreciated and we will use your feedback to train the team. As in any business we can at peak times be busy and delays can occur and with regards to breakfast we always recommend dining prior to 09.30 on a weekend to avoid the rush. Beautiful scenic grounds.
Rural location, beautiful hotel, long driveway from the main road, so lovely and quiet. lovely spa. great that they accept dogs. Once inside the building there is a glass connecting corridor between the buildings which is great when the weather isn’t good. The room was lovely but not all rooms are available if you have a dog. (you have to upgrade to a “deluxe double” if you have a dog) Outside cleaning needs attention, beer & cider cans left in the grass out the front of the hotel & also cigarette butts in the plant pots at the door entrance. perhaps this was due to christmas party season. Slight issue with the menus for the bar and restaurant - one menu says the halloumi is vegetarian & the other says it’s vegan. it can’t be both so anyone with allergies needs to double double check and make their own choice. I asked the staff in the restaurant about this & they were very confident that all the halloumi in the hotel was vegan! Sadly we didn’t enjoy the comfort of the mattress on our bed. it was two singles pushed together with a very thin mattress topper, it felt very old/saggy.

Overall excellent,almost.
Overall the stay was excellent.Almost. Just a minor hiccup on the booking for dinner and he very long wait to boo in at reception too a star from the rating. It is also very easy to get lost at this spelling site.

Enjoyed a great stay.
Stayed one night for a birthday celebration and was not disappointed. Staff were very accommodating and upgraded our room and even left us chocolates. The hotel was clean and comfortable with a wide choice of food for breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Good Stay
A conveniently placed hotel to visit attractions in the area. Plenty of parking & lovely grounds. The standard room was a good size and clean, with everything required for a 2 night stay including a fridge. The shower was great! The breakfast buffet was well stocked with all the items you would want & the only issue was that if you wanted dark toast or had to go through the toaster 3 times! The check in & out processes were smooth and all the staff courteous & helpful. An issue with the heating in the room was satisfactorily resolved within 10 minutes of a call to reception. Would stay again.

Very welcoming with lovely facilities and staff
Lovely hotel with nice comfortable room. The staff were very friendly especially Jess who served us in the bar. The hotel manager even took the time to chat to us. My only complaint would be that my dinner in the restaurant was very small with very little on my plate for the money. So the following night we ate in the bar and thought it was better value. We would definitely stay again

Amazing spa. Good hotel
Room was ok. Very hot though. Shower was great. Very powerful. Lovely spa facilities. Breakfast was cold. Lots of waiting for empty food pots to be replaced. Had a meal in the restaurant. Very expensive for what we had.

A lovely stay
Apart from a little dust by the radiator, the room, bed and bathroom were very clean and very well appointed. Large tv. Plenty of tea making facilities. Fridge, with bottles of water, safe, ironing board and iron. Lovely.

Good but not great
Hotel staff lovely and restaurant food was very good quality. Breakfast plentiful and freshly cooked. But room was a deluxe and yet had no glasses and only one tiny bottle of shower gel. Bath didn’t drain while having a shower and the shower head would not stay on the shower riser so it only reached my shoulder height . Room not exceptionally clean. Nothing awful just not had a thorough clean for a while. Pool nice but shower not so much. I wasn’t expecting the ritz for the reasonable price but it just didn’t quite tick enough boxes for me.
