Our stay was very good . One female member if staff was very helpful when taking drink and food orders. A male member seemed more interested in talking to a colleague. The drinks were expensive but did include a mandatory tip

Beautiful gardens. Access to the lake for paddleboard etc. although fairly steep walk down and back. Saw a couple of deer on the walk down. Quirky layout of the building. No clear directions on check in and lots of 'staff only' areas and doors. Sitting areas have great views. Need to be fit enough to carry luggage up stairs. Comfortable room and bed. Rooms not soundproofed. Old fashioned key. Lovely hot water. Dinner was good.

The hotel was beautiful, but the staff were so-so. We tried to get a light dinner (or "snacks" as they called it) but we could not get anyone to help us (despite being told where to order it) so we ended up going out to eat. The breakfast was pretty good though. The staff at the front desk were not very friendly but they weren't terrible. I would recommend this place because of its physical beauty, despite the less than optimal staff members.

Where do I start ! a quintessential English country hotel. The grounds were immaculately kept and I have paid good money to visit gardens not as spectacular as these. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough for you a special shout out for Brad and for Helen in the assistance they gave us. The food in the restaurant was exceptional and although we didn’t have bar food, what we saw coming out looked extremely good. The only comment I would make is that if you were staying for a number of days the menu doesn’t change that often and is small. I can especially recommend their cooked breakfasts. There was nothing we could fault with the hotel. It’s position, it’s condition and it staff were all excellent.
