It is clean and conveniently located, but staff only seems to be interested in running the downstairs pub/restaurant and you are pretty much on your own from the start to finish if you ever have any issues. I had a room with a balcony, but the balcony was somewhat disappointing. The television is so small that you are lucky even to notice it on the opposite wall."

Parking is provided at the back of the property in a quiet free public car park, with access to the hotel just a few steps away. "The meals were excellent both for quality and price, staff very helpful. The bed was comfortable however the windows did not close entirely. It was quite warm so not a major problem for us but the windows needed refurbishment so they be opened or closed easily. The electric shower was very weak. These issues were relatively minor given the pluses of staff, food and comfortable beds"

"If you value the suspension in your car then avoid the long potholed drive up to this property! On arrival it transpired the lift was not working and no-one appeared the whole weekend to investigate or repair. No idea how long it had been broken. No apology was given when we arrived. We were simply directed to the staircase to get to our room on the 2nd floor!. No idea when the skirting boards in the room was last cleaned. The shower in the room was scalding hot one minute and freezing cold...

"Great base for the northumberland coast,we visited bamburgh which has lots of history,we can recommend the grace darling museum and the church .Also Alnwick has a fantastic castle,( harry potter was filmed there.) The Amble inn had a great atmosphere we were lucky,band played on the friday we arrived .they played great music.And the meal we booked was lovely.well done to all the staff we were made very welcome and nothing was to much trouble. Plenty of free parking aswell."
