"Check in was very accommodating and friendly. We were allowed to check in early. Staff were helpful and friendly. Very convenient location - near harbor, ferry, places to eat, and light rail was just in front of the property.
Wear and tear is obvious as the property fixtures appear old and have seen much use. Not enough light in the rooms. Tapping and hammering were heard at 7:30AM near our room as if there was someone fixing something in the Housekeeping section beside our room - waking us up....

"Stayed at the Paradox for one night to attend a wedding in the City and was pleasantly surprised with our choice of hotel. First off, the valet parking was fast and efficient as was the check-in procedure. Staff were courteous and pleasant. Our room was quite spacious, as was the bathroom, with all necessary amenities supplied. Comfortable bed and totally quiet surroundings. The buffet breakfast was most enjoyable and leisurely as check-out was noon. Highly recommend and would stay there...

"Stayed at the Rydges for 3 nights. I have very mixed feelings about my experience. Paying almost $400 NZD a night, I did expect more. Starting with the positives, the location is amazing. Victoria Cross metro is only up the road, taking less than 10 minutes to get to the city. The area is also very quiet. The lobby and rooms were modern and well designed, however, the rest of the hotel such as the hallways and elevators does show age.
