Review of Courtyard Marriott – Marlborough, MA
I recently stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Marlborough for four nights, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing Marriott experiences I’ve had.
Upon arrival, I noticed our room didn’t have the pull-out couch I specifically booked. Since my husband and I had a king bed, the pull-out was essential for our daughter. I called the front desk and they told me we hadn’t booked a room with a pull-out. I explained—politely—that I had the confirmation email showing we had. She continued to argue with me, insisting we didn’t. I reiterated again that I did, and finally, with a big annoyed sigh, she said, “Fine. Did you use anything?” I said no, and she replied, “Just come down and I’ll give you a new room.” The entire exchange made me feel like I was massively inconveniencing her. No apology, no acknowledgment, just resistance and attitude.
Beyond that, the overall stay didn’t feel like the Marriott standard I’m used to:
• There was no coffee, tea, or water available in the lobby—I asked and was told they normally have it, but they just didn’t. I was there for four days. Never saw it once.
• Staff at the front desk were generally cold. Only one out of maybe five employees ever said hello. Most would ignore us or give us a side-eye when we walked by. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming.
• No breakfast included, and no microwave in the room. This made it hard (and expensive) to manage meals, especially with
