Hostels in Yamanashi Prefecture

I stayed at 5 different accommodations during my visit to Japan, and Ryokan Plum was by far my favourite - it was a shame that I could only stay for one night! I stayed in the traditional tatami room, which exceeded all of my expectations. It was beautiful! The host (I forget her name) who greeted me upon my arrival was very kind and welcoming. I would highly recommend Ryokan Plum to anyone visiting the Hakone/Odawara area.

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Machiko, the owner, is such a kind, warm, and lovely person. I arrived later than expected, but she patiently waited for me to arrive, which I really appreciated after a long day of travelling. The location is incredibly peaceful and quiet. Lovely little hostel with great amenities including bike hire, fishing equipment, tent hire. Location was ideal, very close to the station and Honcho Street.

Very spacious rooms, the bunker beds are awesome. My son loved it, the food in the cafe is very nice. The onsen bath was so relaxing. There are free popsicles and soda bottles and colors for kids which is very thoughtful. The bus station is right next to the hotel.

I had a great one night stay here. The staff are very welcoming and clearly enjoy working there and interacting with guests. The room is exactly as described, and it was very dark at night too. The walls are very thin and sound travels easily especially from the room below, so it’s better to think of it as a dorm rather than a completely separate room. I couldn’t join the Irori dinner as I arrived too late, but it was starting just as I was arriving, and it looked like a cosy experience...

Best hostel I've stayed at by far. Better than many hotels as well. I had a few issues with the WiFi and that's my only minor complaint

Highly recommend this hostel for anyone staying around the Fuji area! As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by the friendly staff, who all spoke English. I was shown a tour of the hostel which was helpful and got to choose which bed to stay in (tip - don't sleep next to the dehumidifier, it's got a constant hum, the hostel is not to blame for this!). Michael was very helpful when providing info and tips about climbing Mount Fuji, without his guidance I wouldn't have been able to climb. Nice and...
