Beautiful spot by the James river drenched in history
The Nelson House was the home of Thomas Nelson, Jr. (1738-89), Yorktown's most famous son and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Nelson's devotion to the patriot cause during the American Revolution contributed significantly to the creation of the United States.
The town was only open for the walking tour and closed for driving due to the weather- which means it was free! (We asked the front desk) it was wonderful to have the place to ourselves. Will definitely go back in the spring/summer.

Pleased with the room. The location was great because you can walk to WALGREENS if needed or go across the street to Walmart. I found this location ideal for easy access to the places a traveler might need in a pinch.

I am shocked that this property is a Marriott. It is super ran down. The hot tub that is advertised does not exist. The room smelled like rotten eggs. We planned to be there for four days but left after the first.

Like it's an unarguable compulsion? Yeah. Don't ignore that. That's your deeper sense of instinct talking, and it knows what's up. And what's up is this drool-worthy shrimp 'n crab po' boy from the Skrimp Shack in Yorktown. There are two locations -- if you live anywhere in Hampton Roads (Coastal Virginia), this is very much worth a stop! Lobster rolls, po boys, hushpuppies, the works.
