Nordkapp is a municipality in Finnmark County, where you can fish for king crab with an experienced guide or book a sailboat charter and enjoy the stunning Arctic Ocean atmosphere. Excellent bird watching is found in Nordkapp’s large nesting colonies. This area is also a great place to view the spectacular northern lights natural phenomenon.

Enjoy a range of outdoor activities in this municipality, including ocean rafting and snowmobile safaris. Norway’s northernmost city, Honningsvåg, is located in Nordkapp. Stop here for fresh seafood restaurants, an ice bar, local art galleries and a museum. Visit North CapeOpens in a new window and watch the midnight sun, a natural phenomenon occurring when the sun is observable at local midnight. This cape is located on the northern coast of the Magerøya Island and is considered one of the northernmost points of Europe. North Cape features a cliff about 1,000 feet (300 metres) high. Stand on the cliff’s flat plateau and gaze out over the breathtaking Arctic Ocean.

North Cape Hall shows short films in a unique panoramic cinema and features exhibits about the region. This tourist centre is open year-round. The cape also includes restaurants, cafés and one of the world’s northernmost post offices. Tour the Saint Johannes Kapell in North Cape, a very small ecumenical chapel that is popular for weddings.

Book a wildlife safari and observe birds, including gannets, puffins and cormorants. Take a deep-sea fishing charter and catch some of the largest fish in the Arctic Ocean. These charters are also popular for king crab fishing, with some of the crabs growing up to 7 feet (2 metres) claw to claw. Bird watching safaris and fishing charters operate near North Cape.

Nordkapp features extensive transportation networks to cater for visitors in the summer. Honningsvåg Airport is less than 3 miles (5 kilometres) from the centre of town. North Cape is about 21 miles (33 kilometres) from Honningsvåg. Stay in accommodation in Honningsvåg, with a range of small guesthouses and hotels available.
