"We used to stay here many years back when visiting relatives in the area. Now it has turned into a Spa Resort, great for those who like and want to be pampered, no problems there, but we did find the restaurants evening menu is now very restricted for choice., plus there was always cold blasts of air, making it very uncomfortable to dine. Back in the day the then Ostler restaurant was far superior"

"The rooms are clean enough and well maintained. The beds are the size they say they are. But although the bathrooms are well maintained, they are difficult to use. They are small, with no place to put your own toiletries. The shower head is weak, and having to climb into a 1950s bath tub is annoying. Especially for older folks. Who still uses a tub in a hotel? Walk in showers is where it's at."

"Great pub/hotel and the family room we booked was very spacious, tea and coffee available in room with biscuits and bottled water in a fridge. wifi had good signal and easy to connect to although no usb points in the room. Plenty of sockets though including by the beds. Shower was powerful and hot and tubes of soap/shampoo also supplied. "The room was clean and reasonably priced. Sadly I didn’t sleep well as the mattress wasn’t very comfortable - small for a double, and it felt like we were rolling together . "Selected Wheatsheaf based on location travelling from Scotland to South Coast. We're told at reception that the room was up 2 flight of stairs but it would be worth it, Walking into room 12 our breath was taken away, it was definitely worth the climb. Dinner that evening and breakfast next morning we're excellent. Will definitely be back. Jim and Lorna"

"We enjoyed our stay at The Upper House. It's a beautiful property set in large gardens. Breakfast was good and we dined at their restaurant on a couple of nights and the food was excellent. Very close to the World of Wedgwood and a short walk to Barlaston, where there are a couple of pubs. EV charging is available for a small fee."

"I have to say I was so very impressed with the service at this particular hotel. From beginning to end the people who work here are polite and extremely willing to help in any way possible. Being a solo traveler, it is comforting to have people looking out for you - and absolutely lovely people at that! Even very early in the morning, (when I am definitely not at my best,) there were several staff members available, who with pleasant smiling faces made it much easier for me to go on my way....
