I went for breakfast and it was a traditional waiter service breakfast eg you are shown to a table, another waiter takes your order, you choose the items you want and its freshly cooked ( no food sitting under a heated light)"

"I found The Royal & Fortescue to be a lovely comfortable place to stay in the centre of Barnstaple very close to all amenities including the bus station which was so handy for getting to other near by attractions. "Great location for us visiting family - setting is excellent and outside area with water, lots of baskets of flowers is very enticing. Decor in the Inn and the rooms is exceptional. This might be picky but a soap dispenser over the hand basin would be useful. The staff were so friendly and helpful and made the stay memorable. "
