The location is perfect, a few metres off the bustling Nanluoguxiang, with endless options for food, shopping, etc. Despite the main street getting really busy, the hotel itself is quiet and you won't hear any noise. The entrance / area of the hotel is safe, even if travelling by yourself.
The metro is within walking distance and you can get to all sightseeing spots very easily. We enjoy walking so we walked to most things (Forbidden City, Beihai Park, Drum Tower, Yonghegong Temple) from the hotel.
The room we stayed in was incredibly clean, the shower was perfect with water pressure and hot water, and we both agree that the pictures really don't make justice to the place. Our room was much bigger than we were expecting, which was a really nice surprise. Similarly, the hotel is so much more beautiful than the pictures give away.
The staff organised our pick up from the airport (it was our first time in China so we appreciated our easy it was), provided maps to help us get around, and then booked our train tickets when we left Beijing to Shandong. It felt they were going above and beyond to be helpful.
161 will be our first choice next time we're in Beijing, we would live in the hotel if we could!
