Communication is a problem at this property. Breakfast is really bad! good location, but i would not stay here again. Not worth the money. they have a kettle in the room, but no tea or coffee!

Very quaint / unique hotel , very close to the local shops in Beijing … property could use upgrading near main entrance … corridors to rooms … and inside hotel rooms / bathrooms - which would improve and enhance the current atmosphere / ambience

Bonne Surprise
Hotel surprenant de par sa configuration et ce surtout en Chine. Environs très animés, cœur historique de Pékin, hôtel pourtant très calme. Je conseille. Attention, il faut le trouver... pas d'accès voiture

The room was too small and located in an awkward section of the hotel (infront of the dining area). However, the staff made up for it. They were so sweet and attentive. I would stay here again because of it. Also, location is key! Best neighborhood to stay in Beijing!!!

Place is a little difficult to find, even with their directions. A very nice local man out walking his dog was nice enough to show me exactly which alley the hotel is located on. Once I found the place I could not have been happier. Location is right in the middle of it all. Staff speak English. The suite that I booked was absolutely beautiful & luxurious. I had a king bed with the softest down blanket, high thread count sheets, even the towels in the bath were oversized and fluffy. Fluffy bathrobes too. The suite had heated floors and a dressing room separate from the en suite. They even packed me a little breakfast in the morning as they new I had an early pick up to go see The Great Wall. So thoughtful in details and kindness; my only disappointment was that my stay was only for one night.

This hotel is in a good location, directly off of a shopping street and close to many restaurants and sweet shops. Subway is close by too. Our room was very nice, and we especially loved the heated floors during the cold winter nights when we stayed. Be warned, the bathroom is TINY and is separated from the rest of the bedroom by a curtain, not a door. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Only some of the staff speak English, but all are very nice. Would stay again.

Very cute boutique hotel in a central location close to transit. The room was quite small and the bed was hard, and when we came back to the room after our day, we found our door unlocked with the cleaning staff’s key still in it... not secure! So I recommend definitely using a safe. The hotel breakfast provided was good and the staff spoke English.

Absolutely lovely stay. I was here with a friend of mine for three nights and we thorougly enjoyed ourselves. The pictures are nice...the hotel is nicer. Breakfast was delicious, staff was very helpful and friendly even though not everyone spoke good English. Location is perfect-situated right off Shajing Hutong street which is a scenic neighborhood/pedestrian area. Lots of places to eat close by and within walking distance of the major sites (Forbidden City, Wangfujing St, Bell tower, etc.) if you don’t mind walking all day to enjoy the city. Highly recommend. Cannot say enough positive things.

Beautiful quiet boutique hotel
A real find for Beijing, this is a good value 12-room boutique hotel. I stayed for three nights, two in a standard room with a terrace and for the third night an upgrade to a duplex apartment. Furnishings and decoration were stylish and very well finished, the beds were great and towels were fluffy. Really lived up to expectations. Only the limited breakfast didn't match the boutique description. I'll definitely try and stay there again.

Nicht für längeren Aufenthalt
Leider wurde durch die aktuelle Baustelle der Gesamteindruck getrübt, so dass dadurch auch die Sauberkeit gelitten hat. Das Frühstück wurde zwar frisch zubereitet jedoch leider keine Abwechslung. Jeden Tag dieselbe Auswahl. Die Dusche sowie Toilette sind sehr beengt und es gibt keine Türe, die Anordnung ist auch gewöhnungsbedürftig. Lage ist jedoch sehr zentral, mitten in dem Hutong.

This property provided a lovely stay for our family of 4! It felt authentic and was right in the heart of a shopping and food district. Close to subway entrances and walkable to the Forbidden City area. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we would recommend this place to others!

Great decor & location but ....
This is a beautiful hotel in a great location, but construction can be very disruptive during the day, and I would not wholeheartedly recommend staying here yet. When I checked in someone showed me the room, but I called him back because I could not get the remotes for the air-conditioning and TV to work. (Only Chinese TV channels, by the way.) For two days the room was stuck at 25 degrees Celsius, and it was uncomfortably warm because the bedding is very heavy. Finally I complained again and the remote was fixed (it had been "locked" at 25). The breakfast was very nice. The front desk arranged a cab very early, as needed (and even packed me a prepackaged sandwich since I'd miss breakfast), but told the taxi with the wrong terminal, which was a hassle. One afternoon a jackhammer was drilling in the room next door to mine and was very, very loud.

The location is very convenient. From the airport, it is about 30 minutes. The shopping street is a bit crowded.

Cosy and calm in a perfect location
Cosy, luxurious room and very nice surroundings. It's close to a pedestrian street with many places to eat and shop, although a bit touristy. There are almost no cars nearby, so it's very quiet and calm. Close to the subway. A little hard to find the door. Breakfast was excellent, but it's not a huge buffet. When I had to leave early for a trip to the wall (that the hotel arranged on a very short notice for a very reasonable price) I got a sandwich and coffee with me in a bag. The only downside was that the toilet is weirdly placed in the middle of the suite. Not a problem if you're traveling alone, but awkward if you're two. The staff was very helpful and spoke perfect English.

Best hotel in Beijing
161 has it all: location in the Hutongs, beautiful rooms, amazing service. The breakfasts are pretty incredible as well. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Beijing. Perfect for couples as well as families. We traveled with our 3 small children and had a 2 floor unit with kitchenette, washing machine, and two levels to spread out. It was amazing. Don't hesitate to book here.

Great location, wonderful&helpful staff, so clean!
The location is perfect, a few metres off the bustling Nanluoguxiang, with endless options for food, shopping, etc. Despite the main street getting really busy, the hotel itself is quiet and you won't hear any noise. The entrance / area of the hotel is safe, even if travelling by yourself. The metro is within walking distance and you can get to all sightseeing spots very easily. We enjoy walking so we walked to most things (Forbidden City, Beihai Park, Drum Tower, Yonghegong Temple) from the hotel. The room we stayed in was incredibly clean, the shower was perfect with water pressure and hot water, and we both agree that the pictures really don't make justice to the place. Our room was much bigger than we were expecting, which was a really nice surprise. Similarly, the hotel is so much more beautiful than the pictures give away. The staff organised our pick up from the airport (it was our first time in China so we appreciated our easy it was), provided maps to help us get around, and then booked our train tickets when we left Beijing to Shandong. It felt they were going above and beyond to be helpful. 161 will be our first choice next time we're in Beijing, we would live in the hotel if we could!

난로구샹 골목에 위치하여 첨에 발견하기 어려웠던 점을 제외하고는 너무너무 좋았습니다. 방도 깔끔하고 예쁘고, 조식도 너무 좋았고요. 날씨가 조금 덜 추울 때 또 방문하여 야외테라스에 앉아 커피 한잔 하고싶네요 ^^ 직원 분들 기본적으로 영어도 다 잘하시고 불편함 없이 정말 즐겁게 있다 왔네요 !

Loved our stay!
Hotel is darling and staff are fantastic. A couple spoke English well, which we found helpful. Our room on the first floor was small with only one tiny window, but it was perfectly suitable given that we spent most of our time exploring Beijing or relaxing on the rooftop deck. The neighborhood felt very safe, was close to the subway, and the hotel was secure and quiet. Highly recommend.

Nice stay，Highly Recommend！
We stayed at this hotel only 1 night for the trip. The staff are so helpful and invited us to the celebration of the Chinese New Year and had dinner with other guests from all over the world. Location is great, just 5 mins' walk from the metro and walking distance to many places. I will definitely stay here again.
