"The room wasn't very clean (quite a lot of dust), and there were random quilts in random cupboards (not clean ones), and the bedroom window was painted shut, which was frustrating during a heat wave.
There were a few unidentified noises of water sloshing or pouring from somewhere, both in the corner of the bedroom and in the bathroom, possibly due to being near a boiler, or just some residue from pipework. So this was a bit annoying through the night.

"I had a wonderful stay at The Milner and would absolutely stay here again.
I booked a Superior Double and the room I was given was enormous – it honestly felt more like a suite, with a large bedroom, separate seating area with sofa and second TV, and an additional dressing area. It was beautifully comfortable and very well equipped, including a fridge, iron and ironing board and, wonderfully, a proper full-size hairdryer! "I booked the hotel because they had a gym. Turns out it was brand new and I was the only using it at the time. Lots of free weights and machines to use. Very good for a hotel gym. I didn't use the bar or restaurant so can't comment on those. The host when I arrived was a really nice bloke and very helpful. I will book again !!"

"Location is the biggest plus. Breakfast is good but noise in our room was a little frustrating. Late night cleanup noise and early morning recycling pickup - perhaps louder than normal because we had to have the window open due to the temps and lack of a/c. The shower though was terrible. Water was slow to drain and we had to be very careful about water splashing and the handle of the sprayer was loose making that very challenging. I may look around more should we return to York."

"The hotel is very well situated from the station and town centre. Breakfast was very good. Standard room was ok quite small although king bed. Our only complaint was it was so noisy from the street, shouting in the night and the refuse lorry came every morning at 5am so if we stayed again we would ask for a room overlooking the river side not the street. The hotel should look at visitors who are staying more than one night and offer rooms accordingly we stayed 3 nights and should have asked to...

"A very charming place to stay at. We traveled with two kids and they loved the bunk bed in the room. We stayed at one of the "cabins" right by the entrance and it was very cute.
The only inconvenience is the bathroom shower does not have a door which makes it hard not to have a wet floor.
Overall we are very happy with the stay and would recommend this place to others."
